Star of India - Montréal

Picked up. Food was tasty, but two concerns. The tandoori chicken cubes were essentially grilled chicken, very little indication that they were cooked in a tandoori oven. In both color and taste. Weird. Second, the korma had a staple ! sitting on top of one piece of lamb. An open staple. They must have had my open dish next to someone else's bag that was being stapled shut. Really sloppy, really dangerous, but a really easy fix, so hopefully they will see this and change procedures.

The Star of India offers excellent food. The portions are more than generous and always piping hot (and served on warmed plates no less). The hard working staff are pleasant and accommodating. This, and the cozy atmosphere, make it a place you want to revisit often. The prices are more than reasonable and the quality of the food first rate. Have never been disappointed.

I didn’t have the highest of expectations because I had my favorite Indian restaurant that closed and had all their tasty flavors swirling in my head but this restaurant was AMAZING! I ordered through UberEats and the food was everything I was craving and more. Beautifully seasoned, fresh, tasty, well cooked and nice portions. Worth it from every perspective! My favorite dishes which I guarantee I’ll be reordering (very likely again tonight haha), Onion Bhaji, Butter Chicken the Shrimp Malai is drool worthy! Lamb Dansk is also good but a bit spicier than I can take. Biryani vegetable rice naan bread just made the whole meal complete!

I ordered a palak paneer. I both make this dish myself from scratch frequently, and often enjoy it out. I have had it at this restaurant as well well made a couple times. My partner and I came out to this restaurant... a bit late... it was obvious that they wanted us out. They gave me some oily vegetable and old paneer with no flavour, and called it palak paneer. I called their attention to the weird oily chunky veg... and apparently this is how it is done

Extremely rude customer service. Started yelling at me over the phone when I tried explaining I had already received delivery from this restaurant. Anyone who starts yelling at their customers should not be in a client service industry.
