Contribuiți la feedbackWe went on a Monday night at 730 and were a bit surprised to find it nearly empty (3 tables taken). In spite of that, service was initially very slow, although friendly and became somewhat more efficient later on. The mojito lacked both rum and mint flavor, and a marguerita was just ok. We had a guacamole appetizer that was small, smoothl and bland-almost certainly not freshly made. The beef fajitas were the best dish by far-really nice mix of flavors. A chicken/mushroom/cactus main was not as good. We won`t return.
This place is a must try in Verdun!! The food is authentic, upscale and delicious. The restaurant is run by an ambitious young man from Mexico with a real passion for producing authentic Mexican cuisine. His father tends bar and his mother plays a big role in the kitchen. What impressed me most was how welcomed and at home I felt at this restaurant. The owner made a point of coming by the table several times and giving his family's story. There also seemed to be quite a large wait staff for the size of the restaurant and we felt very well taken care of. If you want a delicious meal and support a lovely and hard working family, please try this delightful restaurant. We will definitely go back soon.
Lovely place, gentle fine people running it and truly wonderful food...that's a winning combination. We had the guacamole, ceviche starters, carne asada , conchinita pibil, and enchiladas in green sauce . All were excellent, in fact my enchiladas were the best I've ever eaten anywhere even though I lived in the US southwest for years and travel to Mexico often. The service was fast and the prices appropriate . We will return often. The food , staff and pleasant surroundings make for the best Mexican dining in the city.
El Sabor de Mexico is one of the better restaurants on Verdun's Wellington street. It offers a good range menu of fairly authentic Mexican fare within cozy, pleasant surroundings (see photos). Note that this restaurant does NOT take American Express credit cards.
To start the Restaurant is quaint and the staff are attentive and service was very good. Margaritas a must!. They have periodic special, for example October was Taco month. We had this wonderful tasting "TACO de queue de porcelet ". They were amazing. I was a bit disappointed with the main dish (chicken with pumpkin seeds, tomatillo, corn sauce) was ok but just that. It was authentic but I found the presentation lacked. The corn cake was very good. I think overall it was the ambiance that made our night.
