CafÉ SaÏgon - Montréal

This small restaurant is tucked away on a side street, but despite its slightly off-the-beaten-path location, it was nearly full. From the greetings that some guests received, there seemed to be a lot of locals there. The menu is in French and English (those of us whose French is rusty were very grateful). The two waiters didn't seem to speak much English, but that was not an issue as a gentleman who we took to be the owner or manager spoke English and stopped by our table several times, bringing us tidbits from the kitchen and checking on how we were doing. The food was excellent and the service was very good. We'd be regulars there if we lived in the area.

Cafe Saigon was recommended to me by my host, a local of Montreal. I must admit I am truly glad I came. The place is BYOB, so my friend and I were able to bring a good bottle of red wine that we had been saving for dinner one night. The staff is incredibly nice, having brought us a free sample of General Tso's chicken, and then 2 dumplings for my friend and I to try, both without us asking. I ordered the Peanut Chicken dish which was yummy and well-portioned for the price. The pricing at Cafe Saigon is great for the amount of food given. WARNING: They DO NOT ACCEPT CREDIT OR DEBIT CARDS, but there is an ATM for use. Traveling from America, and having ran out of Canadian dollars, I was still able to withdraw from the machine (for a small fee) and receive Canadian bills using my debit card. The owner was surprised that an American debit card had been accepted, so I would recommend obtaining Canadian Money before coming just to be safe.

Offers options for vegetarians on a separate menu not available on the internet. Gluten-free options too.

I have tried many places many are good but not as good as this place if you ask me! The restaurent look alittle old but do not fool yourself, the food is amazing!!!

Good food, but the service is a terrible slowness. For several hours. does not flow/credit.
