Contribuiți la feedbackThe restaurant has a wonderful atmosphere and the food was delicious. We reserved it for our Christmas office dinner and were seated in the basement. The food and service were outstanding and I would definitely go back again without hesitation.
My friends and I visited this restaurant on a Friday night before going to see a show at the Corona theatre. The service was quick and friendly, and the food was fantastic. We enjoyed a variety of dishes including a mixed salad, cherry tomatoes, grilled squid, sardines, cod croquettes, and a unique chicken Piri-Piri poutine. The only downside was that there was not enough cheese in the poutine. The option to bring our own bottle of wine or beer made the meal very affordable. We would definitely come back again.
Great food nice and quiet owner came by and spoke to us it was my birthday dinner, so he offered us free coffee and desert
Have eaten here several times and always a great meal! BYOW is a major bonus! I hate lamb but love the lamb shank at this restaurant. Its a large portion served on the bone. presentation is great. Pork cheeks melt in your mouth the sardines...are great, steaks always cooked the way we want them, delicious cod dishes and the piri piri chicken is juicy and delicious. My only complaints would be the portions of some of their tapas...like the cod cakes and the menu is all over the place and a bit confusing. The cod festival menu should be merged into your regular menu as most of the items are the same. Keep it simple and easy to read. Otherwise we love this place and would recommend to anyone that wants a home cooked style Portuguese meal. Herman, the owner is friendly and an interesting character.
Went there for dinner on a Friday around 9:00 PM. Not crowded, not empty. It is a "bring your own wine" place, so a guarantee not to be overcharged for a mediocre treat, and in our case, a nice bottle of Spanish red.First impression, tapas are too expensive (around 9 to 12$) which seems to be the norm in Montreal (Tapeo, the more upscale tapas place charges about the same). The norm, but nonetheless too high when compared to a similar - but much better - tapas restaurant in Spain or Portugal, where delicious small dishes come for 2 to 5 € max.I tried the "sardines", not mean but not tasty, undercooked and disappointing. My wife went for a small, unremarkable salad, grossly overpriced at 8$.Main dishes are expensive too. A hefty 29$ for a lamb shank with a sauce way too sweet, and a steep 32$ for the beef cheek confit, very soft but too dry. Advise to the chef: Do not serve the meat on a bead of fries or potatoes! They absorb the sauce and leave the meat dry. Let the sauce get into the meat instead, and serve the potatoes separately. Small portuguese tarts - a tad too sweet - make for a good conclusion. Expresso discouraging, as for all the non-Italian joints. In short, this would be an OK place with a nice atmosphere and remarkably good and non-intrusive music - a blessing in Montreal - if prices were more adequate. Don't get me wrong, I do not mind spending money in a restaurant if it is worth it. I contend that the 200$ menu @ Robuchon is a treat. Last month, a 450 € dinner for two at l'Ami Louis in Paris - arguably the most expensive bistrot in the world - left us ecstatic! Will you get value for your dol @ Bitoque? Not as it is. I would not recommend or discard. I guess it is up to everyone's taste. If your wine is good...
