I have as of late been over the from the can to the microwave Mexican food, and El Ray was such a breath of culinary fresh air. The queso dip, the guac, even the accidentally spicier-than-normal salsa/pico left nothing to be desired. My wife is a veteran fan of the food so she got the puerco verde quesadilla, and i went with the bean/rice/cheese/guac burrito with salsa/pico added in it. The rice was distinct in wonderful flavor, the guac was fresh, and whole whole burrito was awesome and filling. We sprang for a snifter of some fine sipping tequila, the Gran Centenario Leyenda Extra Añejo, and the essences that glass of beauty brought forth really brought a nice end to the night with wife and mother-in-law at El Rey. Cudos to the service, bartender, and the chefs totally rocking a small, independent food joint!
Service could have been better considering not many people there. Food wasn't as good as we remembered it being 10 years ago...
El Rey was great as always! We sat outside and it was so nice! I had a watermelon Margerita, it was excellent.
Really good taco place in Cloverdale. Street tacos are great! Not your average mexican offerings, definitely putting their own spin on things. Very patient answering my questions over the phone. The atmosphere is trendy and welcoming. I hope to enjoy the test of their taco menu from their outdoor seating soon.
A staple of Old Cloverdale, the burrito lounge is a unique but high end take on Tex Mex. Lots of great drinks, and flavors. The rustic outdoor seating can be great at the right times but can occasionally disappoint depending on weather and lighting. This explains the flash needed to photograph my plate. Glad it's been successful for as long as it has and wish then many many more years
