La Grotta Di Ciccio - MONTEVARCHI

We loved this little place and tried it based on these TripAdvisor reviews. It did not disappoint! Our waitress, Anna, was so kind and worked with us through Google Translate and her son, who spoke pretty good English! We had pasta and scallopine, and they were very good! We could hear the scallopine being hand pounded to a thin and delicate texture while we enjoyed the pasta dishes! Totally home-cooked! The spaghetti with garlic, oil and hot chili peppers stole the show, in my opinion. The house wine was good with the meal. The bread was the only lack-luster thing offered. I believe Americans enjoy their salt, pepper and other spices more than Italians, so a little more of these on all the things made the meal amazing! Better than the meal was Anna and her service! She smiled and was warm and made us feel so welcome! What a memorable and wonderful meal for a very reasonable price! So thankful we went and we would visit again!

Fantastic little place! Don't let the location next to a gas station put you off. Food is very well prepared and served with gusto. Pasta is fresh and very tasty. Been to eat a few times and even the meat is well prepared and always grilled as you so desire. Fairly good wine selection as well. Always enjoyed the return trips!

I stopped by for lunch at Ristorante Da Ciccio (open everyday but Tuesday). The service is attentive, personable and with a smile. The food is tasty with typical Tuscan traditional favorites. I paid only 20 Euros for table service, sparkling water, wine, a pasta starter, a meat entree and a side dish of spinach. Excellent value. Would I return? Yes of course. Would I recommend it? Yes of course.

We have been in this place before, that was run by the present owner Ulysse, but now by Ciccio. A worthy successor. We had an excellent meal with pasta and rich seafood filling and tender Scallopino as main course. The dessert made by waitress Anna merits special mentioning. All with wine and coffee for a very good priced Highly recommended. Right on the provincial road next to Tamoil gas station. By the way, Ulysse opens a nearby shop with Tuscan delicacies next Sunday (june 17, 2018).
