Contribuiți la feedbackWe won 't be returning. We arrived early ish for lunch one weekday. We were offered a choice of bottled WATER by the rather dour waitress and requested sparkling. A bottle of ALREADY OPENED still water was plonked on the table. After a while the chef (a more personable lady than the waitress appeared at our table and outlined the choices for 'primi '. When these arrived, my wife 's lasagne was barely tepid, but my gnocchi al ragu was tasty and hot! Since there was no printed menu, the chef reappeared to list the 'secondi '. I chose the chicken, Steph chose the lamb, both with roast potatoes. The roast potatoes arrived first, and we 're not hot. By the time the meats arrived, the potatoes were cold. Steph quite enjoyed her lamb, but I wasn 't keen on my oily bits of chicken. For dessert I chose the zuppa inglese which was turgid, too cold and almost tasteless. Including 2 coffees, we were charged €55 for this poor meal served in an ambience almost completely devoid of charm or delight excluding wine. We have lived permanently local to this trattoria: for this type of menu we would normally expect to pay between €15 and €20 per person, including a house wine. (Which leads me on to another thing. The wine list is more suited to a restaurant.
This is one of our local restaurants and without doubt our favourite, we recommend to all our guests to visit this and we only ever hear of great experiences. Don 't expect to see a menu, just trust in the owner and don 't worry about the price, it is great value. The antipasti changes often and is always exceptional and the perfect way to start the meal it is so generous that it is almost a meal in itself. The home made pasta is exquisite my favourite is the cannelloni but it is all great. If you can made a secondi (the meat course) then well done. The contorni are large helpings (as is everything) and so it is enough to share one between two. Room for a desert! Usually the flavour of 'zuppa inglese ' is not to my taste but it is soooo much better here, although I find it hard to resist the tiramisu. House wine is a good standard and the other local wines are well chosen. It is easy to find on just along the main road through Rubbianello. The exterior is nothing of note, a modern retail unit, which gives little scope for creating a special space inside, but you are here for the food not the decor. GO!!!
Our hosts at our B&B recommended this restaurant so we tried it and were not disappointed. All the food we had was plentiful and well judged. The two cooks were delightful and helpful. It was very reasonable and was only 20 Euros per head including wine for antipasti plus prima piatti. We will return when in the area.
Excellent restaurant! Eating tastes fantastic, the staff very nice and friendly and the ambiente very welcoming and recommended!
Delicious lunch in this small inn almost from the past, in the positive sense of the term. music in the background jazz of buscaglione, excellent and abundant dishes, all very tasty without too many frills.
