La Escondida - Monterrey

If you read "mexican food" and think, tacos (with cheese), tostadas (with cheese), enchiladas with a blob of cheddar cheese on top, then... this is not what you'll find here.They have EXCELLENT quality steaks, fish and poultry plates, vegetables and... WINE. A great selection of fine wines to accompany your meal.Also the bar is well stacked with whatever licquor, whisky, beer, imported and domestic that you may want to try.The place is GREAT. LA ESCONDIDA translates to something like "The hidden place", and hidden it is. You may have a little of a hard time trying to get to the exact spot on the GPS or Google, but be sure that you won't regret the effort.The restaurant is decorated somewhat like a "rancho" style with all the mexican details on the walls and it's really pretty. If the night is not too hot (as they usually are in Monterrey) try eating outside for a pleasant evening.Service is the best. Every person is trying to make you feel well, and to enjoy your experience. Truly an excellent restaurant.

This place has been a favorite for Mexican Gourmet food for a long time. Excellent stuffed peppers, Angus beef and salmon. The tuna steak covered with fine pecan was wonderful.

The owner of this restaurant receives clients as if they were dining in his home. He wants you to try the different mexican foods and explains in detail. He is extremely friendly and welcoming as is all of the staff. The service is impeccable. The decor is very traditional mexican and welcoming, cozy. A guitarist plays and sings traditional songs. There is an outdoor dining patio and indoor. There are many traditional mexican dishes and specific of Monterrey (cabrito=lamb). It's a hidden gem behind a building. The food is wonderful.

Hace ya tiempo que no iba a este restaurante, y decidí asistir nuevamente en la celebración del 10 de Mayo, y me volvió a sorprender con el buen sabor de sus alimentos, excelente sabor, algo pocositito del Espagueti Jorge y el Salmón jugoso, una buena recomendación de Vino y a temperatura exacta. Servicio y atención excelente, y el ambiente en la terraza muy agradable, aunque en días calurosos puede que no sea lo mejor.

La Escondida es uno de mis restaurantes preferidos, el servicio es excelente, los meseros y el capitán están muy al pendiente de sus comensales, la calidad y sabor de los alimentos es excelente y les comparto una foto de la deliciosa crema de elote, los precios en altos, pero el lugar es muy íntimo, cómodo, elegante y si quieres pasar un rato agradable es una buena opción el ir a degustar comida mexicana gourmet.
