Basil Seasonal Dining - Monterey

The restaurant offers excellent Italian cuisine with a great selection of dishes. It's often overlooked due to its tucked-away location, overshadowed by the larger Italian restaurants in Carmel. While the indoor dining area is cozy, there are plenty of outdoor tables equipped with canopies and heaters. Don't miss out on their cocktails and wine. However, I was disappointed to find that the special three-course dinner advertised on the website was no longer available when we arrived.

When we finally opened the box, our disappointment was palpable. We received just 27 poorly presented, overcooked noodles. It felt like half the dish was missing; there was barely anything there. We even called the restaurant to confirm if this was correct, and sadly, they informed us that this presentation was typical. Spending $25 for such a meager portion will definitely keep us from returning. Never again.

Overall, my experience was quite disappointing. The food was served lukewarm and took a long time to arrive. The appetizer and main course came out together, and the drinks were delivered at random intervals, requiring multiple reminders. The staff seemed overwhelmed despite the restaurant not being very busy. Additionally, the prices were quite high for what was merely average food. I'm baffled as to how anyone could give this place a good rating.

What an amazing experience. One of the best places to eat in Carmel. Denis is a great owner and the service is very attentive. Definitely coming back soon!
