We enjoyed trying new dishes such as the long grain red rice which I now have in my Amazon cart. The small zucchini were the best I've ever tasted. The grounds and view we're gorgeous, we're we glad we arrived early to enjoy them. I wish we had more days here for a return visit.
We booked here as it was recommended as vegan/vegetarian. We walked out from Montepulciano, but got a taxi back as a storm had hit. We didn't realize until the first course actually arrived but we both had the daily vegan tasting menu. Five courses, plus a decent bottle of Tuscan wine. There were a variety of dishes beetroot soup with cabbage, another with garlic and flowers, a spaghetti one and a dessert. I think the meals on offer changed every day. They were all interesting and quite small as in fine dining but just lacked a real strength of flavour that you normally get with tasting menus. Fairly experimental food pairings, some worked well, one, I'm afraid, the pea and chocolate dessert, didn't work for me. Still, a great place and wonderful to have vegan food in Italy where most places just do pizza and pasta.
That is a rare and wonderful restaurant that is wonderful the environment, eating was good and the host was excellent. karin (also the owner) was very well known, and also very helpful. I can fsm for a group booking or a romantic booking for 2 the resaturant has a very cool mood. Oh, and they have electric autochargers!
Great love for detail, beautiful presentation, excellent eating and very friendly service. there is nothing to blame them, a welcome wide of fresh air in the Tuscan countryside. very pleasant and relaxing. bravo!
If you love veggy food with modern twist this is your place! Having several traditional dinner experiences around Montepulciano, Fattoria San Martino is an exception. We ate five course tasting menu, which is changing daily, depending the seasonal veggies. A peasoup with mint was a great start, then mashed potatoe with egg and smoked pepper, crepes with homemade pesto and straschino cheese, celery polpettes with tomato sauce all full of taste. The dessert was ”torta aqua” with lemon curd with salvia. We really enjoyed the evening with cosy and friendly service
