A new plan to visit a favorite restaurant in the sabina region with a group of Italian friends, unfortunately went sideways, required a hasty plan b. this holiday farm, high on a pass between the tiber rivery and rieti valleys, combining great eating with...loving out of sight and some very convincing history. first eat. as we had been happy on our plan a, this restuarant was unfair, but as soon as the beautiful crispy sweet freezers came out, I knew that plan b will have a happy end. the frit were amazing. so was the hearty bean paper dish. I had heard about this combination, but never tried, and it didn't just let me want more, but later regret that I didn't ask for a recipe. the grilled meat and the sausages were delicious, the wedd is sociable. all in all it was a wonderful meal and a beautiful, peaceful, rural environment. it is difficult to imagine that in the april 1944 one of the most brutal massacres of nazi took place on the way in the small church. frustrated in their attempts to create a certain group of partisans who are on the top achievements of tancia, the angry German rounded older and very young villagers, some children like 2 and 3, and executed them in revenge. this combination of an intensively peaceful rural environment, wonderful dining, healthy mountain air and a convincing local history makes casale tancia worth visiting. for historical buffs interested in this story, there is a great mini documentary on youtube with English subtitles called tancia the movie
A beautiful place with beautiful view and very good eating. However, note the prices and the peculiarities. we came and had antipasti, primi, secondi and dolci. we also had wine, water and coffee. the price per meal is 25 euro, but. the total bill for 4 came to 150 euro. when he asked about the 50 euro soaking bill, the owner was unwilling to explain, and said it was cheaper than in rom, we all live and have lived in italia for a because and so the prices for us are not a secret. he finally agreed that he was overloaded. but the bill was still high, and it seemed impossible to argue a real scandal. we will not come back and I notice a similar assessment in Italian over prices.
