Showfish - MONTAUK

Location is beautiful but the food wasn’t as impressive. It was good, but not great. My scallops were cooked perfectly but the corn peas base seemed hard dry. My husband described the lobster tagliatelle, one of their specialties, as “average”. The menu is limited. We expected more seafood options with a name like Showfish. Service was subpar. They were too eager to clear the table even though we had an early reservation, it was out of season, they weren’t particularly busy. A dozen clams on the half shell came without a seafood fork. When one was requested, they first tried to substitute an espresso spoon. Really

I did not realize that Showfish is located in the Gurney's... can't say I would have booked it if I had known this as the resort is pretty meh to me. The restaurant is located on the water, has a fun vibe and a good menu. I thought the food was good, but I wouldn't make the trip out just to eat here. There was an engagement or wedding party in the private room, but they only had half of the space the rest had regular diners and all the doors were open so we had to listen to their DJ vs. the restaurant music. The other drawback was the wine selection, which was nothing to rave about

Overall very good. Friends ordered the tuna and quite frankly it was kind of gross and presentation was weird. It was basically a ton of tuna (for people) on a slab. No sides. No real presentation. Just a weird main dish with nothing else. Otherwise all was good
