Ronin Steak House Sushi - Monroe

The restaurant is in a beautifully designed new building, but unfortunately, the sushi left me feeling unwell. I ordered the scallop sashimi, spicy tuna roll, and an escolar roll. The escolar roll had a strange taste, which I recalled experiencing on past visits. Regrettably, I fell into the same trap again. The scallop sashimi was nearly tasteless and would have benefited from some sauce and smelt roe to enhance its flavor and texture. Even the spicy tuna roll was lackluster. I have to admit that the sushi at Brookshire's is better, which is disappointing. I really wanted to enjoy this place, especially since there are so few sushi options in the area, but I just can't.

The new Ronin restaurant was just average. The new decor is nice, and the atmosphere was pleasant—until the hibachi chefs started trying to keep a rhythm by banging on their grills, which felt more like a kid drumming on a table. It quickly became tiresome. We ordered hibachi dinners, but they were nothing special. The portions felt small for a $30 plate. The yum yum sauce did enhance the fried rice, but overall, I wouldn't say it was worth the wait in line.

I eat lunch here often. Great service and great cuisine. I highly recommend the tuna dumpling with miso and edamame, or the filet hibachi.
