This restaurant was located steps from the B B where we were staying, La Collegiata, and quite honestly it did not have much curb appeal. However, the food was delicious and very well priced. We had an appetizer of caponanta , then 2 pasta dishes alla Norma and oil and garlic, as well as a liter of regional wine for €24. This is a local spot, with honest, authentic cooking, where we would like to return if we are again in Monreale.
La pizza è terribile. Non mangiate lì. Due pizze lasciate dopo un solo morso ciascuna.
Monreale is high above Palermo and attracts people for the splendid Cathedral which is impressive). I stopped for lunch in the heavy rain and was greeted with a warm welcome. Don't look at the menu , just accept the offer and let the food arrive. Warm fresh bread with Aubergine, celery and mushroom starter. Main of Pasta and tomato cheese mix. Two goblets of high quality house dry white and coffee. €17. The place had a good number of locals , all enjoying their lunch. Suggest next time you're in Monreale, you join them !
We passed through this town on an off-season, cold, Sunday afternoon, and found this trattoria open. It was very cute with gingham tablecloths and a very cosy, local feel. The staff were very friendly. The food was delicious. The fresh bread served with our meals was easily the best bread we've eaten in Italy (and we've lived here for 2.5 years). Definitely drop in here for a meal if you are visiting the town.
