Contribuiți la feedbackWe went here to celebrate my husband birthday with friends and the whole evening was a night to remember. We did the tasting menu and it was divine and superb value for money. So if you are looking for that special venue for a...night of excellent food, atmosphere and friendly service get yourselves a table at You won’t regret it I promise
We toom our daughter and husband for a meal and all four of us thought it was a superb place to eat. The setting is beautiful, the welcome and service is exceptional and the food is superb. Portion sizes are fine dining standard, which mean...you can eat well and not feel stuffed. We think that this is now our favourite restaurant.
Just back from a lovely meal with the family. Lovely service and fabulous food at a realistic price. We had seafood starters meaty mains which were all tasty and very well cooked. The one of everything desert was also a big hit. Decaf coffee...was good too.
I really cannot add anything to what others have said: fantastic food, warm welcome, cosy dining-room, beautiful situation what's not to like? The best meal we have had in a long time (and we've had some good ones). We look forward to returning and...sampling the accommodation, too.
Well perhaps the listing should now be Restaurant WITH ROOMS! After a long while in the constructing of their rooms, Kate Simon are now able to offer accomodation, more later! Unlike pre covid we now always book and tend to eat there mid...week rather than a weekend with us both now retired. Even at busy times the restaurant is very peaceful, no phone signal or WiFi and no intrusive music playing! We love the peace quiet there. Lovely warm welcome from Kate and quickly seated at our table. Drinks followed without delay and as the norm I stuck to the house Malbec which I find is really nice and drinkable even without food! Some complimentary home made nibbles was brought to the table to eat whilst deciding on food choices. I really liked the idea of the spiced parsnip risotto on the taster menu so asked if I could get that as a stater, and this wasn't a problem. What I would say is please ask if there is anythig on the menu that you would like (we often mix things from across the menu) as Kate Simon are very response to requests. My partner opted for the scallop lobster to start followed by the trio of game (Kate even remembers how I like this cooked my partner opting for the pheasant and we both opted for the plum cake which was cooked to order. The comlimentary home baked bread and butter was delivered, followed not long after with a cucumber mint amuse bouche which was really refreshing. Between mains pudding there was a complimentary cold soup which again was refreshing cleansed the palete ready for the pudding. After we finished our meal Kate took us to see the rooms, my goodness what a superb place to stay!! There is one accessible room and other rooms upstairs too, all named after flowers which is a nice touch given the rural contryside location. All the rooms are finished to a really high standard throughout and I can now understand why it took a little longer to bring it all to its conclusion. Downstairs there is a really nice comfy lounge area which looks really inviting cosy and a nice dining area for breakfast. The building looks impressive from the exterior with the pains taken to ensure the new build is in keeping with the existing building. Given the location of it is ideal for Abergavenny, Monmouth or Hereford being short driving distances away or even if you want to walk the nearby hills (Sugar Load, Skirrid, Black Mountains, Ysgyryd Fawr) and have a touch of luxury after a day on the hills! I would imagine it is really restful to just sit in the lounge and relax, or read a book in peace quiet. My huge regret is that I live so close as to need a really good excuse for an overnight stay!!
