A nice little family restaurant, where "the mom" is the chef. Fresh and tasty food. The prices were also very good.
We visited Gasthof Neue Post in August 2015 to get a lunch. We were very satisfied with food (fresh and tasty), and prices were bit lower than in restaurants in Marktplatz. The waiter was very kind, we would recommend Gasthof Neue Post to every visitor in Mondsee.
Small family run restaurant in Mondsee, which we came across by accident. The food is very much local "homemade" and a welcome change from the usual upmarket restaurants. The service was good and very friendly. We enjoyed the food and especially the desert, which was freshly made. Having given the owner such a compliment on the food he even brought out his mother who was doing all the cooking to meet us. Unusual, but very Austrian it seemed to us. Well worth going in for a good home cooked meal (Austrian).
It was a public holiday, afternoon, it was raining cats and dogs and everything was closed, except one Italian Pizza place and that one, if offers traditional Austrian cuisine and seems to be well frequented / compared to the population of the village "Mondsee". It is a place to eat, not a place to spend loads of time, come, eat, go. It is not a place that I would look for, but it has rather found us, because we were hungry and we didn't have much of a choice. One of my friends only ate half of his "Gulasch-Soup" and started eating my "blood-sausage-potato-dish", when the waiter came and asked: " how was the food?", he still showed his polite character trait, saying "it was good, thank you" / but I did mention it right after in front of the waiter "you didn't like it and actually ate my meal, why are you saying that you liked it?" - the waiter disappeared and pretended that this information just went over his head. I don't think it is worth EUR 31,50 for three of us, not to mention that we actually only ordered two soft-drinks and tap-water. Will go there again, not because I'm looking for that place, but there is not much of a choice on public holidays and it offers warm-food. The logo of that "place to eat", reminds me on Hermes Paris / or Coach, hope they didn't harm the copy-rights of those brands, they might end of like Body Shop / Anita Rodick's success is based on a student that actually copied a logo from somewhere else.
