Contribuiți la feedbackTime travel fine food. In a non descript motel dining room near Ferntree Gully Blackburn Rds, Verona serves up solid Mod Oz food circa 1990s. Whilst not avant garde, its meals are well made, elegantly presented very appetsing. Plus good value!<br/ <br/ A generous bread board and plate warranted payment beautiful house churned butter was a bonus. My seared scallops were excellent and both the handmade gnocchi and tortellini were very good with unctuous accompanying sauces. Both meat dishes were old school but also good especially the pork belly with both tender meat and crunchy crackling. Dessert smears also screamed 90s but that noise was drowned out by the joyful sounds of spoons scooping up ice cream.<br/ <br/ Service was a bit more patchy well meaning but a bit flustered the night l was there likely because of the large party in the adjoining function room. No matter it 's rare to find high quality dining like this in the 'burbs. All up under $400 for 5 happy and full diners including two lovely bottles of wine, beers and coffees.<br/ <br/ I have no idea why the restaurant is called Verona but it 's definitely worth driving out that way to try it out.
Thumbs up for this place, nice atmosphere, great food and good service. Price is also reasonable, we had an entertainment card so even more worthwhile. <br/ <br/ We had chicken roulade on bed of risotto with mascarpone cheese chicken juicy and the risotto was perfect match. Eye fillet was also cooked to what we ordered, and the atlantic salmon was fresh, skin crispy and good proportioned. We were so full only managed one dessert to share souffles. It was good but too sweet for my liking. Will go back.
Lovely Surprise. So, this is another place we decided to try because it was sort of in the area and had a really good rating....... What a lovely surprise. I 've lived in the area for an eternity and I 've never heard of it which sort of makes sense now that I 've been told they don 't advertise just rely on word of mouth. <br/ <br/ I have nothing but good words about this place, in fact, I 'm feeling a bit gushy about it. We were warmly welcomed (but not over the top! and were shown to our table. You know when you have 3 or 4 people sitting at a small square table?? This was not one of those there was plenty of room and our table was no different to any of the others in this lovely well spaced room. No listening in on other people 's conversations at this place.<br/ <br/ The service was excellent I 'd equate it to 5 star fine dining restaurants I 've visited. Not intrusive but just quietly topping up glasses, clearing plates and so on but more than happy to chat if you wished. <br/ <br/ The food beautifully presented. I had lamb cutlets (named something far posher than 'lamb cutlets ' and it was one of those dishes that when it arrived I thought that it wasn 't going to fill me up but I was so wrong. <br/ <br/ I didn 't think I could fit dessert in but after reviewing the menu again my dessert stomach kicked in and I managed to down some beautiful lemon cheesecake. So smooth and perfectly balanced. My dear friends who I was with ordered the souffle now souffles are just not my thing but it really did look magnificant and it was huge.<br/ <br/ We were there using an 'entertainment card ' so you get a main course up to $35 or something free. The waiter very generously said he was happy for us to use it again so didn 't mark it off on the back. That 's definitely incentive to return. <br/ <br/ Our departure was lovely. No rushing us out, clearly making sure we left at our liesure. Even someone at the door to see us out and to offer a mentos or two. <br/ <br/ Wonderful place. Most definitely worth a visit.
