A must visit for food-lovers! Delicious, high quality meals are served at shared dining tables and we loved chatting with fellow travellers! Our room was very comfy, with soft linen, plush pillows and great shower. Such a lovely find! Rooms: 5 Service: 5 Location: 4 Hotel highlights: Romantic, Quiet
Absolutely brilliant! We both stayed in the accomadation and ate dinner in the restaurant, and were blown away by the quality. We stayed in the room 'Little Throne ' a nice upstairs room near the end of the hallway with an ensuite, facing the verandah and the road. We slept super well in our comfy, quiet room, and there 's a great shared 'Lounge Room ' for working or movie watching as well. The dinner was absolutely marvelous! You sit at a shared table and we had a lovely chat to fellow Tassie travellers. The food was just extraordinarily good we are recent vegetarians and the vego options were top notch: Amazing roast veg, eggplant parma, and house made gourmet pasta. The steak and lamb options also looked amazing and we 're told they were delicious! The brewery beer and G&T all 'write home about ' excellent. A small brekkie is provided and even that was top notch: even proper milk with cream on the top! Will come back again and again. Extremely expensive. Only one vegetarian option and no vegan option on the menu. Very small serves. The concept of forcing people to sit at a group table with others I find invasive. Some people just want to sit with their partner/friends and not strangers for a meal. The baclava and poached pear that were on the menu would be the worst desserts I have ever tasted.
Update January 2024... After our last visit we were keen to try the Host's Table experience. Unfortunately the booking we thought we had secured had not been read in their emails in the aftermath of public holiday closures. If you make a booking, wait for a reply and confirmation directly from the restaurant. We did not know this and were disappointed upon arrival to find they were fully booked (and we weren't on the list). Unfortunately our itinerary did not permit us to rebook. What a great find! Came to try the beer but fell in love with the food. The okonomiyaki (savoury Japanese pancake) is my new favourite, but everything we tried (tapas style) was sensational. Great hospitality too! Highly recommend stopping in for a meal, bevvy or both. Service: 5
