Contribuiți la feedbackWhen I went here with a dear friend for the first time in well over 20 years, I was uncertain whether it would meet my expectations. I needn 't have had any concerns whatsoever! The kitchen was as good as I remembered that is to...say very, very good! And the warm, friendly service was fantastic! Greeted as we entered the door by a smiling, friendly lady, she quickly made us feel 'at home. ' Our meals were prepared beautifully and served promptly, the beverages were very good, and the experience was an absolute hit for both of us. My friend, my best friend 's widow, had originally intended to take me elsewhere, but that 'Balkan ' restaurant was booked out due to Christmas parties, so we came to the Zagreb instead. I had frequented this excellent, hidden treasure many times when I lived in Germany, and had always enjoyed it but this 'return ' was like coming home to your favorite neighborhood 'haunt ', the one outsiders don 't know, but the locals frequent for the best meals and atmosphere, fuer die Gemuetlichkeit. Zagreb still has it! A quick slivovitz for an aperitif, and then the biggest surprise of all! Well under 30 Euro for two full meals and drinks a princely repast at a pauper 's price! My warmest thanks to I. for taking me there, and to Zagreb for welcoming me back.
My husband and I enjoyed the cevapcici served with avjar. We felt like we were back in Croatia for the evening.
After reading all the posts on this site, I decided to give this place a try, and I am so glad I did it because it was a great choice. First thing I noticed was the restaurant was full, I glanced at some dishes and...they looked tasty accompanied by decent sized portions. I sat outside because the weather was nice, since I am the worst when choosing what to eat I asked the waitress to suggest something, she was not very much help there so I picked something familiar. The food overall was great, the meat was perhaps a bit on the salty side but it was very tasty; the wine was excellent too. The bill was even better, when after a generous dish and a half litter of wine and still I paid less than 20 Euros. Very happy indeed after all!
Great quite restaurant and prices are very reasonable. Food is very good and service is great, I would recommend to anyone staying around Frankfurt.
Zagreb is a great find in local restaurants, providing good food at a great price in a romantic atmosphere. Highly recommended! We have tried many of the local restaurants in the area and have had mediocre experiences but were surprised and delighted with the food,...prices, atmosphere, and service at Zagreb. The schnitzel is great and served with lots of accompanying goodies. The Goulash is excellent and unique (Croatian). House wine is good and plentiful. Service is excellent. We were looking for an open restaurant on a Sunday evening and found several but none were appealing. Zagreb had a sign that said open at 5:30, so we came back at 5:35 and found that the restaurant had filled with locals in the short five minutes it had been open! It is obviously a local jewel and should be tried if you are in the neighborhood. Bon appetite!
