My mother-in-law got the fish she pierced. I shared the Wildburger with my husband and it was delicious. Very big! My father in the law had a piece of marzipan cake and had no complaints! The decor was beautiful (very beautiful).
The house Torhaus is located at the entrance to the Sauerland and directly at the Möhnesee as the first address in this region. Both breakfast, lunch and dinner are excellently prepared and the coffee table with cake and cake is exceptionally good. It's very friendly, fast. Prices are above average, but are still acceptable.
I don't speak German, they haven't spoken much English. I had no role! Cake and tea were reached. The only thing you're prepared is to find only your seats and then they come to you, don't wait for space. The cakes are huge and incredible. We didn't eat a main meal, but what we could see to get around, we certainly wanted it to be!
We visited the Torhaus a couple of times and always enjoyed the visit. The food is good, the place is beautiful and the service very good. It is highly recommended to reserve a table before going because it is usually very crowded! The dishes are...well crafted, but in some respect quite german in the sense that they sometimes appear boring to foreignes (our experience with visitors). Still, we think this is one of the best places for upper level german food in the area. Not only the restaurant itself is beautifilly decorated, but also the surrounding gardens are a piece of art and show a lot of love. A walk is a MUST if you visit the first time.
Well, I am trying to organise an engagement party at the Torhaus (as I used to live in the area and the food was recommended to me) and pretty much regret the decision already: Staff do not return emails or only write 2 lines.Normally with...a request to call as communication by email is frowned upon. Not because I converse in Englisch-I do speak German fluently.Thankfully my parents still live in the area and can do some of the leg work.If you ask Torhaus staff to call back either nothing happens or they hang up before voice mail can engage. My latest phone encounter involved being barked at by a lady who clearly thought I disturbed her rest, followed by a talk to the somewhat patronising and arrogant sounding main events lady. Here the question is not what the Torhaus staff can do to make you event special but how you,as the customer, can make your event as little a hassle to them as possible. If you want to feel listened to or taken care of the best advice will be:better book elsewhere. The food?No idea-who wants to eat where service is bad?
