The service was pleasant and efficient, although they forgot to ask if I wanted a whole wheat roll and I forgot to mention it. The chicken was delicious and the portion of fries was generous. However, I noticed that the sauce seemed to disappear too quickly, which was puzzling. The size of the chicken pieces seemed to be getting smaller and you no longer receive a side of coleslaw.
I dislike eating at the airport. The portion sizes do not match the prices, and the staff appear unhappy to be there. I was in terminal 1 to bid farewell to someone and decided to have breakfast due to the early hour. It was a disappointing experience. Three of us ordered two omelettes and a BLT, and it took the kitchen 20 minutes (with no other customers waiting) to prepare our food. When we requested jam, we were given only one packet for the three of us. Eventually, we received two more packets after asking. The quality of the food was subpar; the omelettes were tasteless and undercooked, the home fries were essentially just french fries, and the BLT lacked proper ingredients. For over $50, this was unacceptable, even for airport standards. Swiss Chalet, you should be ashamed of the service provided.
Was meeting in the Toronto Airport to interview a few folks, and since I was in Terminal 1, this seemed like a decent spot. Was greeted by Rachel, who had fantastic customer service skills. I was a bit between breakfast and lunch time, so she kindly reminded me I had 10 minutes if I wanted breakfast. I decided to wait until lunch. I had a rotisserie chicken sandwich, and it was really pretty decent. Good flavor, juicy, good dipping sauce. French fries were okay. Ice tea was great. Spent a few hours there and everyone was very nice. Will be back for next round of interviews!
Had to make a quick stop to grab dinner as flight kept getting delayed. They sat me and my colleagues fairly quickly and server followed up right after. The drinks and dinner came really fast, like within 5 minutes of placing the order, which was a plus for me. The food itself was as expected, its Swiss Chalet so I managed my expectation accordingly. No glaring issues and no pleasant surprises either. The dark meat half chicken I got was a little too salty, so anyone trying to avoid that should possibly get the white meat. Beer was excellent, would get UPA again. I would come back here knowing they have fast service, but not when I have time to lounge.
TLDR: if you have to eat there, take the stir fry teriyaki You know the cliché about how airport food sucks. Well, this Swiss Chalet does nothing to dissipate it. The spinach and cheep dip appetizer was ok, though it felt more like something that used to be frozen and was now reheated. It was a bit too greasy and a bit too salty. I had the chicken pot pie, which was a huge disappointment. I found it extremely bland and the pastry on top was soggy. Even the baked potato was just dry. The only redeeming part of the meal was the stir fry teriyaki my wife had and the cheesecake, which I'm almost certain is made somewhere else. Finally, the staff was also a disappointment. I hate to criticize because they probably make minimum wage, but there wasn't a smile to save your life. We tried to call our waitress three times and she didn't hear us even though we were just 2 ft away, and the overall experience felt more like McDonald's with a table menu.
