Contribuiți la feedbackWe were on the way to get food at Berto's lunchtime on Mother's Day when we have the idea to order here as well. But our calls went unanswered, so we thought it was temporarily closed because of the pandemic. Apparently, we were wrong because the OPEN badge was turned on. We parked the car and went to Song's Kitchen first to check after us whether it was actually open for the business. The door was unlocked and, apart from the physical distancing arrows on the floor, it looked quite like business as usual. The lady owner came from the kitchen and greeted us. She wore a mask, a face shield and gloves and stood far away from the counter while she took our order. We ordered Calamari $7.95), chicken pillow thai $8.95), garlic shrimp $11.95) and salt and pepper fish $11.95). My husband wanted to pay with his credit card when she mentioned there was a 10% discount when we pay money. After we paid the bill, we told her we tried to call forward, but nobody answered the phone and she said they were probably on a call. While our food was cooked, we went to Bertos next door to pick up our other food order. Although we returned 15 minutes later, we had to wait another 10 minutes before our order was finished here in Song's Kitchen. Everything was well cooked. Parts were okay. Food tasted very good. Fried calamari was tender and not chewing, even if the next day reheated. My only complaint was that simple ketchup served as a Calamari diving sauce.
Unbelievable Hakka cuisine. So good and amazing service. Manchurian shrimp was the best food I had for a long time.
I had today the $7.95 combo-lunch special and totally agree that it is generally average in what you were separated today. It took about 15 minutes to prepare, but was hot when I got it. It was tasty because there are only two places to... in et in this food store. The atmosphere here is rustic and cautious to go down the stairs to the basement to use the washroom as the handrail is broken. Only other people eating here for lunch were two children in public school. Nothing imagination about this food, but that is a positive thing in this place next to the good food, they have a variety of items to choose from the menu.
This was recommended by young adult children of a friend for large portions and great value. I thought to eat here with my family a few months ago until I made a search online and found out that Song’s Kitchen was more a meeting place than a...sit-down restaurant. So it was only recently at a morning break in the Westdale Mall right across the street that we could try. The specials were posted outside, as we knew that Song’s Kitchen offers cheap lunch options and combo menus. Customers order at the counter, then pay to sit and wait for their food. I chose Sesam Chicken as my lunch special rice meal Pop, $5.95, available from 11AM to 4PM) and asked for bottled water instead of pop, while my husband chose Kung pao Chicken he non-spiz) as his combo special rice meal spring rolling hot soup, $7.95). While waiting we also decided to buy food: Calamari $6.95), mixed vegetables with tofu $7.95) and cashew nuts chicken $8.95). Wait lasted about 15-20 minutes. Our din-in application was brought to our table in extraction containers. We immediately noticed the generous parts. We had to cool our food a little because it was hot, obviously freshly cooked. No complaints about food, it tasted good. We couldn't finish our lunches too much for 1 person) so we decided to bring the rest home. We asked the lady for a soup lid and a plastic bag so we can pack our remains. At that time our takeover order was packed and ready to go. At home we found out that we got a free rice with our order. We already have a discount for paying cash so that the Freebie made it a sweeter deal. If not for a problem with the Ausruf-Kaschews were slightly burned---I would have given this place a 4 out of 5 ratings. Song’s Kitchen has very limited seating, only 6 diners at a time plus 2 seats for takeout customers). When we came here, there was already a customer on the 2-seater table, so we occupied the 4-seater near the front glass. Later we shared this table with two teenagers who came here for lunch. It became unhappy warm here at noon) with the sun on my back, while my husband complained about glare. I wanted to sit next to my husband as soon as the kids left. The owners could probably install reel tones so Diners could lower them as needed.
The service is amazing and the food I recommend the most is chilli chicken!! 10/10Food: 5/5
