Plus, the booth-style seating allows for a bit more privacy, so you can enjoy licking your fingers without anyone noticing. Overall, this is hands down the best Korean restaurant in Mississauga!
*Full Disclosure:* The owner kindly invited me to try out his restaurant, which I had already planned to visit. His invitation encouraged me to go sooner, and I'm really glad I did! **Parking:** The restaurant is located at the former site of the popular BBQ place, Paul Sandy's. When you head south on Cordova, you can park directly behind the restaurant, but be careful not to park in the Turner Porter Funeral Home lot. I learned this the hard way when a person inside the funeral home waved at me disapprovingly from the window. Calvin, the enthusiastic owner, informed me that this restaurant is actually a branch of a well-known Korean chain called Sikgaek, and this location is the first one in North America. The menu is intentionally limited—don't expect to find Bibimbap or PBS here! With several other Korean eateries on the same street, Calvin decided to focus on perfecting a select few dishes. **What to Order:** I recommend the Kalgooksoo for $8.95, which is a simple yet hearty egg drop soup featuring HANDMADE noodles. Don't forget to try any of the mandus dumplings. When ordering the dumplings, make sure to get the side of gochujang slaw; it's sweet, spicy, and adds a crunchy texture that complements the dumplings perfectly. Absolutely delicious! I don't usually eat much, and the portion of Kalgooksoo was more than enough for me! However, this dish may not be the best for takeout, as the noodles tend to lose their chewiness the longer they sit in the broth. You might want to share it in order to sample other items on the menu. The broth is mild but pleasantly enhanced with bean powder, chili, and pieces of dried seaweed. The mandus come with 12 dumplings per order. I opted to have half steamed and half fried, and both were spectacular—handmade with very thin skin. The filling is a mix of beef and pork, just for your information. The owner is working on a vegetarian dumpling option, so for now, meat lovers have the spotlight. The restaurant is quite small, with about eight tables, and every single one was occupied on a Friday night! If you plan to visit during peak hours, be prepared for a wait. They are open until 2 AM on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday nights due to high demand. The service was very friendly, and it was a pleasure to chat with the owner about his journey as a new business owner. Interestingly, he previously owned a café at this exact location, so it's great to see him back in the neighborhood! In summary, visit for the handmade noodles and dumplings, friendly service, and late-night hours! And yes, they offer both domestic and Korean beer.
I visited this restaurant around 9:00 PM with a couple of friends for a late-night dinner. We were seated in a charming booth that offered some privacy from the rest of the dining area. While there are tables that provide a more traditional dining experience, our booth gave us a lovely retreat from the hustle and bustle of the city. The staff was attentive, despite appearing a bit weary, likely due to the late hour. They were slightly rude, but I think they can be forgiven since it was close to closing time. Our food was served quickly and efficiently. I really enjoyed my dish, which included rice cakes and spicy pork. Everyone else liked their main courses as well, although the fried chicken was somewhat dry, and the Yangyum sauce didn’t quite remedy that. Overall, it was a wonderful experience, but I’d suggest skipping the fried chicken. I would definitely recommend this place!
Food is beyond awesome! We tried corn cheese, omurice-Takoyaki and Chicken Hot plate. I really love Omurice-Takoyaki. Gravy had a hint of sweetness and Egg was perfect! Takoyaki was mind bowing! For anyone who doesn't like sweetness, this might not be the first choice. Had Private area for us and seperate button to order food. Really love the concept! Friendly staff Free parking Highly recommended
Came here for the very first, and my Dad tagged along! We ordered the Original Pork Bone Soup, Sikgaek Japtang Ttokbokki, and Shrimp Omurice! All dishes were made to order, served quick and to perfection All had their wonderful unique flavours that stood special on their own but complimented everything else. The portion sizes are perfect to share, or for someone who can handle it all! My favourite part is how they served the Ttokbokki as it came out on its own burner and in its own pot! The server who helped us who I believe may have been the chef/owner, was the sweetest most accommodating individual. The food was absolutely worth the time and money, and I can’t wait to try their hot pot next!
