Bairrada Churrasqueira Grill

Food is grilled and portions are large. Steak was not tender, but veg was done right...steamed, bright and colourful. Too many tables crammed into a small space...awfully uncomfortable when crowded...feels like communal seating.

Well since my last review we've been to Bairrada 3 times. Yes, 3 times and each time better than the one before. It all started a few Saturdays ago when we had several dishes but, the standouts were the Grilled Codfish and the Valencia Rice. The cod was a beautiful thick cut, grilled to perfection and best of all, not salty. I had the day's special rice dish and it was loaded with Dungeness Crab, prawns, clams and more. Wow! What a deal for $18.00. So good that we ordered another one to share. All 8 of us loved the Caldo Verde, salads, cheese, flaming chorizo, Sangria and mains. Since then we returned 2 more times and on the last one we had 2 Seafood Platters. They were the best we've had with plenty of really good shelfish such as Lobster, Dungeness Crab, large prawns, mussels, clams and more.Way to go Bairrada. Hope you continue this trend.

Food portion here is huge. Bread served is very fresh for entree. If you have a big appetite, this is the place to go to. Food is awesome for the price you pay.

We have been going to this restaurant for years. The crab is amazing and my go to dish. When they have the grilled red snapper I will have it as well.Service is always fantastic. The restaurant is always electric with a positive vibe. One of our favourite places in Mississauga.

I visited this place on recommendation of a colleague at work in Toronto - I am only in Toronto about once a month so don't get chance to visit too many places on a regular basis. I love Portuguese food and another colleague I was travelling with has a Portuguese father-in-law.We arrived and the place isn't special looking - it is very much a café style place but that would never put me off anywhere. The food and service are by far the most important things when it comes to dining out.We were seated very quickly by a very pleasant waiter - he offered us drinks and gave us menus.The menu was quite extensive and there was a wide choice of starter and main courses available. I went for the Portuguese sausage to start with and then Codfish for main course.The starter was ordered on the basis of what we had seen on another table. It came flaming in a dish which looked amazing - with bread to soak up the juices. It arrived and looked exactly as we had seen and I have to say I thoroughly enjoyed the starter - it was way too large for one person so I left over half of it.The main course arrived and it was Codfish as described with boiled potatoes and vegetables. The fish itself was ridiculously dry and tasteless - I actually don't know how you can cook fish and make it that dry and tasteless. The potatoes had been over boiled and were disappointingly tasteless and the vegetables had been overcooked and were nothing more than a mush - again tasteless.This may have been a one off but given that I am not often in the area, I will not be returning. Very disappointing food, although the service cannot be faulted. I had seen some reviews saying people had received poor service but that was not my experience - I just wish the food had not been overcooked and tasteless.
