The portion sizes have decreased and prices have gone up, which is unfortunately common in today's economy. However, there is no excuse for the decline in food quality and service. It is frustrating that you cannot call in a takeout order as they do not answer the phone, forcing you to go there in person to place an order and then wait for 2 hours for it to be prepared. As a loyal customer, it is becoming difficult to continue patronizing Arigato when there are other restaurants where you may pay slightly more but receive better quality food and service. It's disappointing, folks.
The quality matches the price at this restaurant. The spicy salmon roll and udon were okay, but the tempura and salmon sushi were disappointing. The service was also lacking, with the employees appearing unhappy and unenthusiastic. It's a decent option for budget-friendly sushi, but I probably won't return unless I'm in a pinch for a quick, inexpensive meal while at the mall.
I want to share my negative experience with Arigato Box. I ordered Bulgogi shabu shabu, which is supposed to come with beef, glass noodles, vegetables in soup, and rice. However, when my order arrived, it only contained a few pieces of beef, a few vegetables, a very small portion of rice, and no glass noodles. When I called to inquire about the missing noodles, I was told that they had run out and decided not to include them. I pointed out that the noodles were listed on the menu as an ingredient and that I had paid the full price for the dish. I questioned whether they would do the same if they were out of chicken for a chicken teriyaki dish. I wanted to warn others to be cautious when ordering from this restaurant, as my experience was unsatisfactory.
4 stars overall, come on!?!?! Must have the lowest sushi food standards ever.Came here for lunch December 15, 2022 and ordered the chicken teriyaki bento box.Ugh, what a disaster! The chicken tasted like it was boiled (not grilled or pan fried and then dumped with a load of tasteless “teriyaki” sauce that doesn’t even taste like teriyaki sauce. I couldn’t believe it! Even putting some commercial Kikkoman teriyaki glaze would’ve tasted better. My hope was gone already. (Also note they had bean sprouts in the mix ? .Move onto the sushi and included rolls, the rice was mushy and definitely not fresh (pre-prepped . The tempera included 2 pieces sweet potato and 2 shrimp...all 4 pieces were super thick battered and even the chinese-owned Japanese restaurants were far superior to these abominations. So in conclusion, the worst was the teriyaki chicken (I didn’t even finish it . Second worst was sushi/maki, third was the tempura. I definitely would avoid this place and search further for my Japanese food fix!*The price was $12 no tax, which seemed very generously priced I’ll admit. But wow during the meal, I couldn’t help but feel ripped off. Maybe the high reviews were from prior owners (Covid could have made for a change of ownership , but most recent reviews of this place are really really bad....what a shame.
The cashier (Japanese heavier set gentleman) was extremely rude! Last time I was there I ordered the salmon terriyaki and it was dry I asked him if he can make it less dry this time and he replies umm ok.. No customer service whatsoever. He doesn't smile at all and when I handed him a bill he ripped it out of my hand. When the lady takes the order its whole different experience she is much more pleasant. He made me very uncomfortable. I WILL NOT BE RETURNING!
