Very warming staff and quality food at a very affordable prices. Needs some refurbishment on the furniture. Family’s and large groups are sometimes noisy

This was an amazing find particularly as our first choice of restaurant was its sister restaurant which we found was closed for a 2 week holiday. On the door was a suggestion to try our other restaurant; ‘O Pomar’ and what a treat it was! After a 15 minute walk we found this busy restaurant. Despite our non-existent Portuguese, we managed to communicate; they were very welcoming and found us a table despite it be a Portuguese Sunday lunchtime. All the staff including the young owner/manager were welcoming, enthusiastic, helpful and greeted everybody in exactly the same manner. The food was simply delicious including the grilled octopus which was the best that we have ever had! My veal was cooked to perfection as was my wife’s suckling pig. The sweets were delicious and the local wine was very good. All the prices were remarkably cheap by UK standards. The final example being two excellent espresso coffees for €1.5. Thank you to all the staff who made this meal a holiday highlight! If we are anywhere near Mirandela next year we shall make a special effort to return.

Although quite big, has a very good environment, making you feel the heat of a northeast Portugal typical home! The food is truly great and prices cheap for the quality. The staff is very kind and concerned about your satisfaction!
