Mio Saloon

The food here is excellent, and they offer chili to warm you up during the chilly winter days in Mio, where temperatures can drop to the teens. They have a good selection of bottled and canned beers, and don’t miss out on the karaoke on Tuesdays!

I ordered the chicken-bacon-ranch salad and was thoroughly impressed. The lettuce was fresh and finely chopped, the chicken was tender and served in generous portions, and there was just the right amount of bacon to add flavor without overwhelming the salad. Sometimes, salads at small bar-and-grill places can be a gamble, but Mio Saloon really hit the mark. That said, this place hasn't been overrun by yuppies; it retains its charm as a relaxed small-town bar with a biker crowd. It also seems to be a local hangout where people come for lunch and to chat, often bringing their kids along. I imagine the atmosphere might change at night, and as I visit Mio a few times a year, I plan to check it out on my next trip.

When we arrived around noon on a Thursday, there was only one bartender/server. To her credit, Jody was friendly and informed us that she was the only staff member available at the moment, and that if we chose to sit outside, we'd need to come in to place our order. The selection of craft beers was impressive, and we chose an Oktoberfest from Left Hand Brewing. Based on Jody's recommendation, we ordered the Biker Burger and the Philly on Texas Toast. Both meals were hot and delicious, and we were very satisfied with our choices. The bar has also been recently updated and features a pool table. Overall, we highly recommend this place! We use to get the fish dinners on Friday all the time, and they use to be great. Today we ordered take out 3 piece fish dinners (Friday all you can eat fish) and the pieces of fish were very tiny, hardly any fries, and no rolls. WON'T be getting it anymore, or coming in to eat!
