Pizza Man - Milwaukee

Pizza Man is consistently excellent, and didn't vary their reputation for us last evening. It was, however, FREEZING cold, which is why the ambience score fell for us. Earl our waiter was attentive, friendly and courteous, as were the host and hostess.

Typically excellent, but last night was disappointing. The salad arrived without dressing and the pizza had clearly been sitting out for a while before reaching our table. The wait was unusually long and the service was lacking.

Consistently great, but one issue stood out. We have been loyal customers for almost 45 years, ever since the original owner passed away and the restaurant was rebuilt. Unfortunately, they now only offer a minimum of two glasses of wine per order. While the quality of the wine is still good and the portion size is decent, some customers prefer just one glass or a smaller pour. We suggest they reconsider this policy and perhaps offer single glasses for certain wines. Previously, when Mike was in charge, they had a nice selection of reds and whites available by the glass, with 3-4 options of each.

The pizzas were delicious. The thin crust is very thin, not a bad thing, just an FYI. The Caesar salad was an unexpected highlight! Did the pull-apart cheesy bread as an appetizer and it was very yummy. The restaurant was having some technical issues so half their menu was unavailable. Also, service was friendly but it did sort of take a while to get your food. All in all, this pizza place is better than many in Milwaukee, but I don’t know if it’s a must.

We know the service industry has been hit hard. The host seemed to take on some additional tasks which improved the service tremendously. He had our table set prior to our arrival. I think his assistance helped our waitress to also do a great job. We had asked for well done pizzas and they were not well done...perhaps they were afraid to burn them, which would have been preferred. We'll try again.
