Contribuiți la feedbackHad lunch here a few times on visits to Boonah: food has always been a bit of a let down but venue is so appealing, we keep coming back hoping it will have improved.Very pleasant on the back deck on a sunny winter's day. We were there on a Sunday, the place was quite busy and they had live music in place. Very pleasant.Menu is typical pub fare ranging from steak sandwiches and burgers through to full steak meals.I am a coeliac and whilst the menu does indicate gluten free items, the choices are quite limited, especially if you do not want a steak. More concerning is the impression that kitchen staff do not really understand the gf dietary requirement. I would suggest being specific about the gf choice you make and not assume all will be well.I ordered grilled chicken breast and veggies: passable but a little over-cooked.We will go back again but food expectations are not high.
We stopped here for a quiet afternoon drink or two, great little roadside pub oozing atmosphere and vibrant local colour. But, after nearly $22 for a Corona, a Pacific Ale and a packet of peanuts - had to go. Great little pub but question the prices, perhaps they saw we weren't local and charged more?
As the saying goes - fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice, shame on me. Just finished dinner at the Dougie for the second time in as many months. First time, ordered two rubbish chicken parmies with cold chips, which left both of us not finishing our meals and one of us out of action for the rest of the night. Second visit (tonight 9/7/17) we ordered the grilled Barra and chips which should be renamed the cold burnt (go figure?) half a fillet and true to form... Cold chips oh and over priced. Also got the pork chop and potato, let's just say the coleslaw was the high point. Just for a laugh, order ANY of the gravies just to see how close to cement grout in consistency they are and flavour. The bar staff were friendly enough and if it wasn't for the outdoor area we would recommend you keep on driving. What a waste of what could be a great little watering hole and place to get the quality countery you look for in a pub.
The "Doogie" as its called by the locals, offers a varied range of good home style meals. The outdoor eating area is a great place to park your bum for an afternoon in the sun. Sometimes there is entertainment usually on a Sunday arvo. There is a children's play area, and you can sit and watch to make sure they're behaving. The hotel is owned by Sirromet wines, there's a full range of their product available. The beer is cold and the staff are friendly. Check it out next time you're passing through Boonah.
Some people are easily pleased! We lunched here today and we're very disappointed with the food. It took a long time to come and it was cold and terrible! We have been here twice, first and last time!
