Proprietari e personale cordiali. Consiglio
I 'd read multiple rave reviews about Rebelot while researching a long weekend in Milan with friends, so insisted that we visit for thee tasting menu on our big night out together. What a disappointment. To provide some context, we were a group of '30 something ' professionals two based in New York City and two based in London. The four of us are accustomed to (and actively seek out) inventive cuisine in fun and busy environments that celebrate new chefs and new flavors. At the end of the day, however, we 're just looking for good quality, tasty food. This was not our experience at Rebelot. We had a great table in a bustling area of Milan and were excited to turn the decision making on our meal over the to chef. Our server seemed to be struggling when we arrived, and it only got worse as the restaurant go busier. We had long waits to order our drinks and food, even longer waits for anything to arrive. When the good did come, it was either totally uninspired, or simply not good. Dishes were far too salty, too mushy, too chewy, or just bland. None of the plates of the five course tasting menu were particularly tasty one I actually chose not to finish after two bites even though I was really hungry and sick of chewing on breads ticks. When the fifth plate arrived 30 minutes after our fourth plates had been cleared we were all expecting to get a desert or cheese plate, but were presented with cold, sliced chunks of pork poorly matched with what I can only describe as mushy avocado ice cream. Not delicious in terms of flavor or texture. Unsatisfied with the meal after five attempts, most of which we left unfinished, we elected to have dessert and got a totally average tiramisu and a pistachio parfait (or something like it, I 'm not really sure as the flavors were just sweet, bland and creamy). I really wanted this place to be great, and think it still can be, but it needs to step up its game. The food it serves ought to at least match the high price tag.
