L.a. Cocina - Mijas

This restaurant was just by our hotel. On our arrival day (Sunday) it seemed to be the only place open. The menu is a little unusual. The food was ok but certainly nothing special. We didn't return

We stayed at the Crown resort for 2 weeks and this restaurant is next door, which usually means they tend to get by on the holiday makers who can’t be bothered to walk too far, but for once this place was really rather good, so good we have been back 3 times. All the food is fresh, salads, burgers cooked to your liking, friendly staff, plus pizzas karaoke on Mondays, what more could you ask for, a big thumbs up.

Brownie was to die for! And the fish and chips was divine! Lovely staff and will be back. Especially as we are staying next door. Well done.

I 'm a big fan of Hermosa in Cabo Pino, having dined there many times over the years, so I was keen to visit the recently launched sister restaurant in Calahonda. There are many so so restaurants locally so the Hermosa team is very welcome and I really hope LA Cocina becomes a hit. As things stand, I 'm slightly on the fence. The LA Cocina project has the air of a 'soft launch ' about it the website is pretty half hearted with practically zero content no menu, no directions (and the location is a challenge, really hard to track down satnav took me round and round in circles, so a decent map would be great once you know where it is, you wonder why it was so difficult to find, of course). Plus points: food was pretty good a more limited menu than Hermosa, but nicely presented. And the service was very good warm and friendly. Negative points: we were the only people dining (9pm on a Sunday evening in mid October) so there was no atmosphere at all. Also the lighting indoors was rather harsh. End result: no 'buzzy vibe ', as promised. I 'll certainly be back again next year and hope LA Cocina establishes itself and goes from strength to strength.

Wonderful experience was had every time we visited L.A. Cocina. The food was first class and Josh was a real gentleman. The Chef is excellent. We ate and drank there five times as it was one site to our apartment. There was no real need to go anywhere else, it could not have been a more pleasurable experience. But be warned we will be back.
