Chagaroot - Midtown UNLV

Alright, so my family and I have been coming here from the start and well, a lot has changed. Firstly, yay for a vegan restaurant on this side of town!! It's pretty scarce over here and as vegans we'd rather support vegan only restaurants so we were thrilled when this place opened. It started off great, very consistent food with only a few changes such as adding capers to the el Caesar which made it too salty for me, but I dealt). We were regular customers. A change they implemented was having to pay using a link after calling in an order. This lost some of our business because as a stay at home mom with 2 littles, sometimes we were out and I'd need dinner so I'd order as we were about to head home, but having to pay on my phone was just not feasible while driving. Next, they stopped taking cash. That lost some business too. Regardless, we were still eating there probably once a week sometimes more sometimes less. We favored the matcha mushy which is gone now..the other mushies were too sweet for my liking but my husband liked them a little but they got rid of all of them), the mac n cheese which is not the same, I don’t care what they claim, its not. Noodles are overcooked, its watery, and just not the same), the fries sooo good; both) and the Greek mushroom mama burger which is gone now). The new smash burger is a pleasant upgrade of the old chaga mac. That IS good! We weren't a fan of the tacos. However, the salads kaffir kale and el ceasar) were really the driving force for us choosing chagaroot for dinner. Those salads were my reward and treat at nightime after putting the kids to sleep. They changed both of those salads and its such a bummer because until them I never found a place that had GOOD salads and good portioned salads for the price! I'm really sad about this. They were sooooo good!! Unfortunately, the revised versions are not my cup of tea. The kale salad had like 3 peices of kale when I got it and didn't know it changed. So with all the changes we are definitely not going to eat here much if at all anymore. : Idk whats going on, but hopefully they stay consistent so they don't lose their new customers too. Oh and the red haired employee is a keeper. Same with Maria!

These burgers and shakes are truly incredible. Everything is so fresh and delicious. I love their Chagasmash burger. I visit Vegas 1 to 2 times a year for about a week and ALWAYS make at least 1 visit to ChagaRoot and there are tons of vegan options in Vegas, but I always have to come here.

Incredible and inspired food, appealing to the masses but instilled w a deep understanding of powerful superfoods. My friend Shane has created a delicious menu and cozy bright space that's familiar even though it's an innovative all mushroom based restaurant and menu. The staff was really helpful and sweet, clearing my table for me after I finished eating and guiding through the menu as it was my first visit and I had questions. The food was super delicious and well balanced as well as a bit decadent in all the right ways. The burger didn't fall apart on me all the way through although they included a fork and knife on my tray that when they brought the food out to me. The burger doesn't look huge but was totally filling and didn't give me any heavy belly feelings either which can happen w beyond and impossible burgers. Although the burger patty looked very similar to a traditional meat-style burger. The french fries are maybe the best fries I've had in Las Vegas, and the chocolate protein shake was filling and not too sweet. I'll be driving across town again soon just for this and will be telling all my vegan friends about it too. It's so amazing and inspiring what they've done with the mushroom, and I'm glad they're helping to popularize it because there are so many amazing mushrooms that should be used more in everyday culinary masterpieces. Can't wait to come back!

As a first time guest, I felt like I was interrupting and in the way of the front counter staff. The employee on the register was definitely overwhelmed and annoyed. Fortunately, other first time guests that entered during my meal received a warm welcome and full explanation of the menu and products. I ordered very minimally without the education so I was unable to experience much of the posted favorites of other reviewers. I had the taco trio and enjoyed the tacos. I found some of the sauces to be a little spicy for my taste. The Blueberry Bloomer Mushy is way too sweet for me but it was very delicious. The wait for fresh food was less than 20 minutes dining in on a Friday evening around 7:30pm. I may go back to try the vegan mac and cheese.
