The beds were comfortable, the shower was amazing and the Aircon was a savior during the heat wave. The staff was very friendly and helpful with questions we had. The on-site café is also a beautiful touch, as the food was incredible and for vegans/baby. Parking was absolutely good and we had no problems, what ever. The location is great, about an hour or less to the Yosemite Valley and it is a beautiful ride.
The Yosemite Bug is best for people looking for affordable, cozy cabins with a beautiful location a decent distance from Yosemite National Park. It's a 45-minute drive to Yosemite Valley. Please note that it is rustic, so there is little to no cell absorption in this area, you need to go on several stairs to get to your cabin, but this is part of the charm. What I like most is that it really feels like a rustic cabin trip where I can turn off and not like a cramped hotel or crazy overpriced cabin. It's only from HWY 140, but far enough that you don't hear the highway traffic. The Yosemite Bug Cafe is expensive, but is pretty dang good. The portions are HUGE, so I'd rather share them with another person. They also have vegan options. You can also buy a bagged lunch to take with you in Yosemite Valley. The atmosphere and the crowd are very relaxed and it is very easy to meet a friendly conversation with your neighbors. I have come here since 2018 and I always prefer to bring people to Yosemite by staying here.
Near the parks, but an hour drive to the valley and other park attractions. For the price, $200 per night, we had a comfortable room with two queen beds and private bathroom. Concrete on the rustic part of the description. No, no. Nice to stay for a place while the days are in the park. The June Bug Café on site was convenient. The portions should be shared by HUGE. Skip the lunch sandwiches to go bare bones, make your own sandwich with Stale bread. The Trailmix is homemade in a Baggy and the cookie? is two chips. It was clean and we felt sure our entire 3 nights stay. There's a shuttle stop in the parks, but we've never used as it would be? was an hour on windy roads on the bus.
This is a hostel with simpler accommodation. You shouldn't take a hotel or a resort. Nevertheless, the location near Yosemite NP makes the accommodation attractive. But, you need to calculate 45 minutes to the NP. At least in time we were there it was an affordable accommodation. The accommodations are simpler, but with a lot of love and offer the right for every budget. The staff is extremely friendly and helpful and tries to find a solution for everything. The restaurant cooks fresh and has various dishes on the menu every day. What I particularly like is that they try to avoid waste and disposable packaging as much as possible.
I was very pleasantly surprised by the ?Bug.? ? I stayed here in a room with two queen beds with a couple of my friends in early June, 2022, and we all really enjoyed our stay. It was pretty amazing how, despite its quirky decor, the hotel accommodations were really comfortable. There were some really cool, creative sculptures of bugs around the property as well (see photos). The location was pretty ideal to access Yosemite, all things considered, with only a 35 minute drive to the El Portal entrance of the park. I couldn?t eat the food at the restaurant at ?the Bug? because they don?t accommodate severe gluten allergies celiac disease, but my friends said that, even though it was pricey, it was very good. The shared kitchenette space was actually extremely handy to have, too! Well organized and full of lots of kitchen appliances and utensils. Again, I was limited in terms of my gluten problem, but still got to boil water to make my dehydrated backpacking meals that were safe for me to eat, and was able to boil hard boiled eggs with my own kettle that I had brought, etc. It all worked out just fine, which pleasantly surprised me. My one regret is that I didn?t make it into the hot tub sauna massage spa! We checked it out on our last evening there, but it was about to close, and wasn?t going to open until the afternoon after we had checked out. It looked amazing though. I hope to come back and try it out someday.
