We really enjoyed the vegan meal we had here recently! Delicious hummus and falafel! The dessert dates were sinful! Thanks for the vegan options in town!!!
This restaurant claims to be known for its karaoke and Mediterranean cuisine, but I have to say, what a letdown. When we arrived, there were two guys who looked like they might be up to no good, casually smoking and grinning as we approached. They were standing near the entrance, and although they smiled and gestured for us to come in, their presence was unsettling. The door was propped open, which created a draft that pulled all the cigarette smoke right into the dining area. That was my first warning sign. Despite that, the overly friendly demeanor of the supposed owner and the staff—along with several enthusiastic groupies—made me wonder if maybe, just maybe, the atmosphere could be overlooked. However, I was struck by the awful decor, harsh lighting, a DJ playing terrible music, and a bizarre menu that seemed to mix Mediterranean dishes with confusion. Once we reached the register to place our order, the two female hosts behind the counter were lively and chatty, confidently recommending various vegan and vegetarian appetizers. They even took the time to explain some of the dishes and cooking techniques, which was nice. But as I reviewed the menu, I noticed that some of the items I thought would be reasonably priced were shockingly expensive—7 to 8 dollars for hummus and baba? When I asked about the portion sizes, the host informed me they weren't large, pointing to a small 6-inch melamine plate. I couldn't imagine spending that much on such a tiny dish. Despite my growing concerns, I placed the order, hoping that the high prices would be justified by great food. When the bill came, it totaled over $83 for five appetizers, a beer, and two veggie burgers. Absolutely ridiculous! After about 12 minutes, it became clear that the kitchen intended to send everything out at once, which I didn't want since I preferred to have the appetizers served first. I asked the woman at the counter if they could serve the appetizers separately, and she quickly went to the kitchen. Two minutes later, she returned with two tiny plates of baba and hummus, along with some lukewarm pita bread sprinkled with a dry spice mix that looked like sumac. The baba and hummus were just average, at best, but the spinach pies were a disaster. They were cold, poorly seasoned, and tasted like stale spinach. The eggplant fries were the only item that had decent seasoning but were greasy and tasted of old frying oil. To top it off, they were served with ramekins of ketchup, which struck me as an odd pairing. Ketchup is not what I would want with battered eggplant—it just felt clueless and poorly executed. In short, this dining experience was strange, subpar, and I left quite disappointed.
We were the only customers in the restaurant, and the waiter lingered around us the entire time, even while we were settling the bill, which made things feel a bit uncomfortable. I ordered the lamb gyro, and unfortunately, it was dry and lacking flavor. My daughter tried something from a secret menu that's supposedly debuting soon when they rebrand as a fusion restaurant. She thought it was decent, but not impressive.
