Shibui Japanese - Miami

So sad with the change in management and food quality. They made the place look pretty but the food is now awful and expensive. So sad. I use to come here at least once a week for the last 10 years. It's very heart breaking how they have changed a place that brought so much joy and happiness to not only me but other life long clients. Very very sad.

Unfortunately, the recent ownership change over the past year or two has been disappointing. The new owner no longer greets guests personally, and the front-of-house staff lacks personality, making for a rather uninspiring experience. While the restaurant now accepts reservations, it has turned away local walk-in customers, enforcing a frustrating one-hour wait time on two occasions I witnessed. If you order takeout, you'll find yourself directed to a side entrance to collect your food from an unmarked door. It feels like picking up food as an Uber Eats driver, greeted only by a sight of the stockroom and a simple paper bag — an unsettling experience given that these are the same customers who dine in, often spending over $80. This approach seems to demonstrate a poor understanding of customer expectations. As for the food itself, it's decent but lacks the authenticity it once had, with the ginger being particularly subpar. On a positive note, they are now open for lunch, and thankfully, some of the longtime servers remain, providing a familiar and friendly atmosphere in this beloved Kendall establishment. Overall, I would rate the food, service, and atmosphere all as average: 3 out of 5.

I enjoyed a dinner experience at this restaurant, and I would describe it as fantastic overall. The food was exceptional, earning a perfect score of 5 out of 5. I highly recommend trying the Gyoza, Thai Donuts, Miso Soup, and the Shrimp Tempura Roll—they were all delicious. The service was also quite good, rated at 4 out of 5. The staff was attentive and friendly, contributing positively to our dining experience. As for the atmosphere, it truly stood out, receiving a score of 5. The ambiance was inviting and added to the enjoyment of our meal. With a price range of $20–30 per person, this restaurant offers great value for a wonderful dining experience.

I love this place!! You get such good sushi for such a fair price! You won’t find many places where you can get 4 rolls of sushi, a dessert and an App for $70. Aly was our server and she was the SWEETEST throughout our whole experience. Really gave sweet nana vibes!
