Jaque Mate Kendall - Miami

I’m not sure what to say about this place; it hardly qualifies as a restaurant. It seems to be experiencing an identity crisis because it definitely feels more like a nightclub! I'm not sure how that works for them. We were first greeted by a hostess who didn’t speak English, which was a bit confusing. Then we were handed a menu that was much smaller than what we had seen on OpenTable. My dish was supposed to come with "gac," but we had to pay extra when we asked for it. The waitstaff seemed overwhelmed and stressed; I suppose that’s typical for a club atmosphere. I really can’t imagine sitting at one of the high tables, as the stools are quite uncomfortable compared to the lower ones. The whole place feels chaotic. On the bright side, the food was good, and thankfully, no one got sick from it.

I would like to share my experience at the restaurant. I had made a reservation for 20 people, but it turned out there were actually 30 of us. Unfortunately, the online booking system only allows for a maximum of 20. That night, there were also three or four other birthday celebrations going on, which added to the chaos. While I understand that the restaurant was busy, the customer service was quite disappointing. It seemed like the staff could benefit from more training. I was really looking forward to introducing my friends, who mean a lot to me, to the waitress, but by the end of the night, my friends were unhappy with the service we received. I genuinely love the place and the food is good. I also want to support my friend Nacho and the Venezuelan community. I will visit again, but it's clear that improvements are needed. Honestly, we've visited this restaurant twice and had an amazing experience both times. The food and the staff were wonderful. We tried the octopus, beef carpaccio, churrasco fajitas, and steak and cheese toasts, and everything was fantastic. The music was great too; it could get a bit loud while eating, but it added to the atmosphere when it was time to celebrate. I highly recommend this place!

Terrible service. You get charged an automatic 18% tip on your bill. Music was good.

Where do I start, as we walked in the staff was welcoming and friendly the service was prompt the food was great but the best part of the evening was the little handwritten note that I requested via the Opentable app to be added to our suprise dessert, totally made my fiancé’s night. Thanks guys for an incredible date night. Highly recommend
