Big Boss Brewing Company

I've been a fan of Big Boss all the way back to the Horniblows days. It's sort of like having a beer in a friend's basement, but there's no basement. Good beer. Great atmosphere. It's so sad to know that they're closing on August 28.

Big Boss was the hottest thing in Raleigh in 2010. Since then it seems like they haven't put in much effort at all to innovate with their beers or the atmosphere. What used to be the best brewery in the triangle (and the first, other than The Brewery, which was not, in fact, a brewery) has fallen out of even my top 10. It's maybe not even in the top 10 within that small section of northeast ITB Raleigh. Apparently they're closing soon and relocating. I hope they take this as an opportunity to inject new energy and ideas into a stagnant concept. I think it's more likely though that they just never reopen.

I’m giving them two stars. One bc I’m nice, and two because the space is super nice. It lost theee stars because the beer is shiet. In what world is a New England ipa flat and lukewarm? The beers were all flat and warm gross. If I ever come back, I won’t be drinking anything of their flat warm tap.

Added them to the list of brewery tours and enjoyed it. They have a lot of hoppier brews but the Big Boss Lager and Sea Bee were excellent. They’re a little off the beaten path but plenty of room inside and out, as well as plenty of parking. No food trucks the day we were there, but it was raining. The artwork is good too lol at as well. They do sell their canned brews too.

Big Boss is one of the best NC breweries and rightfully so. Took a brewery tour here and tried several different beers that all hit the spot. The tour showed how they did all the ingredients, added hops, fermentation, etc. in a warehouse like area. Very wide open. Lots of options to choose from but Bad Penny is my favorite.
