Blue Fish - Mérida

Pulpo is in season, and the Blue Fish chefs know how to season and cook it. It was tender and the ajillo sauce just right spicy. Mixed fresh vegetables cooked and seasoned well, and all served with rice, garlic bread, and fresh tortilla chips for the table. Portions are ample and service attentive. You can 't miss this building painted shades of bright blue, though there was some confusion because, instead of saying Blue Fish, it says Cevichería. Spotlessly clean, too.

Had lunch there and service was great, presentation and taste of food is above normal , very clean and bright restaurant, will return for sure as lots of variety on there menu.

La carta es atractiva, variada, por lo general el sazón es bueno y los meseros son atentos. Es sabroso el pan de cazón, el queso relleno de mariscos, el pescado relleno de mariscos y las empanadas de pescado como entrada (aunque sólo hay temprano; a media tarde nunca pude obtener una orden).Este lugar convoca casi en exclusiva a una clientela local, dada su ubicación (una avenida transitada pero que conduce a áreas residenciales de la ciudad). Estacionarse es muy difícil, pues no cuenta con un sitio apropiado y hay que hacerlo sobre dicha avenida (lo cual es problemático) o en una calle lateral que está en pésimas condiciones. Sin embargo, el baño es un desastre de suciedad (no ha habido vez en que esté limpio, carente de olores desagradables e iluminado). Aunque iba a este restaurante cada vez que visitaba la ciudad, ese tipo de detalles me han desanimado para volver a él.

The decor is simple but the food is excellent. The broiled fish platter was the best I had in Merida. It come with a green salad which was delicious. Most locals that were there ordered seafood cerviche.The locals eat the cerviche with corn chips. It looked great but we passed. I would recommend this restaurant to anyone who wants to eat good seafood in a basic decor at a reasonable price..

Party of four visited Blue Fish for the first time for dinner upon the recommendation of Yucatan Living website. It is located off of a side street just after the roundabout near the Gran Plaza. We used a taxi because directions provided to us sounded confusing but next time easy enough to drive. Parking is on the street in front of the restaurant. The decor is simple and contemporary relying on blue and white which naturally goes with the sea theme. It seemed somewhat stark and walls could of used more decor to muffle a bit of sound and lessen the echo. I guess it didn 't help that we were one of three tables. The restaurant has plenty of tables and I cannot imagine a time that a reservation would be essential. The menu is in spanish only. Where our translation failed, the waiter was very helpful and assisted in explaining the choices. I don 't know if it was because we showed up after 6 (surprisingly restaurant closes at 8 p,m. possibly because it is out of the Centro. but a couple of choices were no longer available. In the end, this would be our only drawback because food and service were excellent. Our table ordered squid, seafood ceviche, shrimp salad, tuna tartare, salmon, and shrimp brochette. All dishes were beautifully presented and fresh tasting. The presentation was amazing and you really had to take a moment to appreciate the plate. The shrimp and seafood in all the dishes (i.e. ceviche and shrimp salad were tender and sweet. They were not tough which is often the case when it sits in the citrus brine to cure. The tuna tartare was superb! We would highly recommend this dish as a result of its quality, seasoning and fresh taste. The salmon, slightly overcooded, still tasted very good. We had two bottles of white wine sorry don 't recall the names. For dessert, a chocolate cake which was moist and pleasantly sweet without being overpowering. I would have taken a picture, but with four spoons at the table it quickly disappeared. So in the end, a meal for four people, two bottles of wine, one dessert cost us approximately $120 Cdn. Excellent value for money! All of us would definitely visit this place again and would confidently recommend this to any fish/seafood lovers wanting an impeccable meal at a great price!
