La Mire - Méreau

We arrived at the hotel attached at 6pm and I booked dinner at 8pm. At 8pm we crossed the courtyard to the restaurant. A waiter asked me if I was from the hotel (yes) And would we eat outside. I said yes assuming he meant the glassed in veranda. To my horror he tried to lead us out into the garden. It was 14’c and there was no way I was eating outside and I told him so in my best french. (I speak fairly fluently)His reply was we are full it’s the garden or go elsewhere . I stormed out saying some very un gentlemanly things and back to hotel reception. She assured me that I did have a booking and rang the restaurant. The manager came over heard my story , and asked us to return, have a drink on the house and he would have a table in 10 min. So it was. The meal was ok but not good, well priced. The original waiter stayed well away from me and nobody bothered to apologise. The manager pointed out the 2 free drinks on my bill as if that was compensation for my aggravation. He also pointed out the booking had not been recorded an that an earlier guest had found the garden too cold and requested to be reseated inside.

After a long journey it was great to arrive at the La Mire hotel and find a quality restaurant within walking distance of our room. The young staff were professional, friendly and helpful and made our young dog very welcome. The menu had a good choice of home-cooked food with a changing daily menu available too. The food was plentiful, nicely presented and very tasty and the set menu options were good value for money. The restaurant had a cosy and laid back feeling, which is perfect to relax and enjoy a delicious meal after a long journey.

Hello to all We made a stop at the hotel The mire where we were received by a very friendly and professional hostess, we ate at their restaurant with the same reception and a king meal made with taste and very good a super chef and a team of super professional and attentive waiters. So tell everyone if you pass around especially no hesitation go to Hotel La Mire you will spend a great night. You will enjoy the restaurant this place deserves 5 stars
