Le Floroine

On the banks of the Canal Lateral a La Loire sits a canal boat tie up area and beside it , lies the restaurant. It is very reasonably priced and the food is worth the visit. I had the white bait and the trout. It was the pink trout and very flavoursome. I would book on arrival (we did because both Friday and Saturday nights were packed. The place is run by a Harding working and very nice couple who speak good English. They also manage the tie up area and provide the keys to the water, electricity , toilet and showers. All in all, I recommend this place

Visited on two occasions during our visit to Sancerre for a late breakfast. For 6 euros we had coffee, orange juice, a good choice of various breads, home made jams. Very friendly service, close to the canal and also quite a busy road which was not so good ! Well worth a visit, interesting bar area with lots of hats !!

When in France we always like to try and find an authentic 'workmens lunch ', or 'white van mans ' lunch as we jokingly like to call them! We were greeted by the friendly and efficient hostess and seated along with a large group of locals enjoying their lunch, sometimes there is a tendency for establishments to think 'tourists ' want to eat separately but there was not a hint of this. The wine and water are already on the table and you help yourself from the vast buffet for starters, then there is set main course, it was pork the day we were there, then a small cheese course, a large selection of desserts, the Isle Flottante was fab, and then coffee, all for an amazing 12 euros! A pretty setting opposite the canal, all in all great fun and amazing value for money

I keep coming back to this inn for dinner, bed and breakfast. It's bang on the canal, you can walk over the viaducts of the old railway from Menetreol to Cosne, it's within walking distance to the Loire and Sancerre itself. The food here is tasty and served with a smile. Prices haven't changed much over the years and it remains cheap and cheerful.

The place was packed when we got there, and as soon as we tasted the food we understood why. They serves us the best lunch I've had in a long time. Starters (salad buffet), main course, cheese, dessert and coffee, all delicious, and healthy too. A real jewel! I highly recommend going here.
