Contribuiți la feedbackI went with friends to the Royal Oak, Walton on Friday 11th August. When we arrived, we gave the name of the person who had booked the table. The waitress had no reservation for us, despite booking several weeks earlier, and having received confirmation. It was not busy, so a table was found for us. We purchased drinks, and sat at our table. The waitress brought the menus and left us to browse the menu. Several minutes later the waitress returned for our orders. We gave our orders, and the waitress looked confused. She then realised she had given us the wrong menus. The menus were then changed, and we were then asked to choose from this new menu. The second menu was not as interesting as the first one, however we made our choices. One of the group of 4 then asked if there was Garlic in her choice of food as she is allergic to Garlic. The waitress went into the kitchen to ask the chef. She returned and informed us that EVERYTHING, yes EVERYTHING has Garlic in it. Even the batter that the fish is coated in has Garlic in it! Unbelievable. Obviously we could not stay, so we finished our drinks, and left hungry. There was a Stoney silence from the waitress as we paid for our drink on the way out. We went into the local town, and got takeaway Fish and Chips. Not quite the meal we had planned to celebrate 2 birthdays in the coming week. 3 of the diners live in the village, and have lived there for many years. It is unlikely that we shall return. A VERY UNHAPPY BIRTHDAY!
From the moment we walked in, early doors, welcome was lovely. Great menu with lots of choice. And staff readily agreed a few dietary changes needed. Food was delicious. Fresh, tasty and more-ish. Priced well, and excellent value. Plenty of easy access parking. Very, very happy to recommend.
Outstanding meal. Went with my mum for an unplanned lunch. We both had the steak and it was outstanding. The best I’ve had in a very long time. Cooked to perfection. I asked where the beef was from because it was the tastiest I think I’ve had. It’s Devon red. Couldn’t fault the meal at all. Chips were chunky and crispy. I will definitely be back to try the Sunday lunch with my other half.
The outside could do with some love but once inside it is nicely decorated. The food was really good, very fresh, tasted great. Quote from my Mum regards the fish and chips, best fish I've had in years. Would not hesitate to eat there again. Also friendly staff.
We stopped here after getting off the motorway at Bridgewater after coming home from Wales. After passing a few closed down pubs we happened to notice the Royal Oak. After making sure they were dog friendly, we were greeted by the very polite and friendly staff member a credit to pub as a first Impression who took our drinks and food order. We had three meals which were very good and well prepared, good quality and well prepared meals, a good choice of meals. We even had a dessert one very nice brownie and a very cheese board. The pub was what you call a pub with a good selection of drinks and wasn't trying to be something it wasn't which is what I like. If we are in the area again we definitely will be back.
