Automatic Slim's Tonga Club - Memphis

My husband and I visited this restaurant for breakfast on a Saturday morning and ordered brunch dishes. The food was quite good; the biscuits were fluffy and the cheesy grits were fantastic. However, as noted in some other reviews, there is a mandatory 20% gratuity added to your bill when dining with more than one person. While we typically leave a 20% tip for good service, our experience here was disappointing. Our waitress seemed unhappy and didn’t refill our drinks at all. It appeared that many of the waitstaff had similar unsmiling expressions. I suspect they rely on the guaranteed tip and don’t feel the need to provide good service. In light of this, we were planning to tip only 10%, but when we got the check, the 20% gratuity was already included. There is a sign at the bottom of the front door that mentions the automatic 20% gratuity for parties of two or more, and there’s a small notice on the table stand, but if you’re not paying attention, you might miss it. We definitely will not be returning.

I had a delightful meal last night, featuring salmon with crawfish risotto and an étouffée sauce. It was absolutely delicious. I ordered the salmon cooked medium, and it was just right. If you prefer your salmon more well-done, make sure to request it medium well or well. I thoroughly enjoyed both the dish and the drink I chose to accompany it. I will definitely be returning!

The food was fantastic, and the service was excellent. I would highly recommend it to anyone visiting Memphis. Even the kids enjoyed it!

The grits are a travesty, eggs were weird taste too. The waitress took them off our bill. Good customer service, they don't rush u out. The meat and red velvet pancakes were really delicious. Restaurant itself is very pretty and good Atmosohere.

Good brunch options. Orders just weren't accurate, or as described in menu. Taste was good. Nice drink specials. Kid options limited.
