The Cave Bar - Mellieha

We were excited to try a meal at a restaurant in Melieha, but after booking a table and traveling there, we were disappointed to discover that the restaurant had been closed for a few months. We had to scramble to find a last-minute alternative nearby.

The actual view does not match the pictures. We thought we would be seated right by the picturesque viewpoint, but instead there is an infinity pool and sunbeds in front of us. The photos are deceiving as they make it seem like the view starts right at your table.

Our main dishes, steak for my partner and fish for myself, were disappointing. The steak was cold, overcooked, and chewy, while my fish was overcooked and cold as well. We noticed that the residents of the hotel were choosing their meals from a buffet, making us wonder if our food had also been picked from there. When the waitress asked how our meal was, I quietly and firmly told her it was the worst meal we had had on the island and that we would not be returning. In hindsight, we should have left as soon as we saw the disappointing starter. Luckily, we had a much better Maltese Platter at another restaurant a few nights later, which was superb and cost the same amount.
