Contribuiți la feedbackAlthough it was a quiet Monday lunch, it didn't stop Vlado from serving up the best steak cooked to perfection. A wonderful experience . Recommend highly.
A set menu offering an appetiser of sausage, entire of meats: rib eye, calf liver, pork and a burger with fresh pickled horseradish and mustard on the side. For the main my partner and had ordered a medium rare wagyu and porterhouse. Both came out more rare than medium, but was well cooked and delicious so we didn't mind. The wagyu is a MUST. It melts in your mouth like buttery meat, it did not need any sauce or accompaniments. Would go back again
There aren't many places like Vlado's left. There is basically a fixed menu here, where they serve an entree of different meats/cuts, a main where you choose a steak on offer, and dessert where you have a couple of choices (strawberry crepe or ice cream with strawberries). Along with your entree and main, you can have as much salad as you'd like (they give you a bowl and refill it as necessary). It's a very meat based meal as you can tell unpretentious, traditional and hearty.<br/ <br/ We were offered either a half sized steak or full sized steak. My wife only wanted to order a half sized, but considering it was a fixed price regardless of what we ordered, I convinced her to get the full sized steak so I could have her leftovers. That may have been a mistake. We were already pretty full from the entrees, and after stuffing my face hard on my steak as well as her leftovers, I was practically comatose. I felt so awful (from my greed, not because the food was bad) that we had to abandon our initial plans of walking around Bridge street after the meal, just so I could go home to rest.<br/ <br/ The meats were all cooked well, I didn't have any complaints. They were tasty and generous. Don't expect some sort of fine dining marbled wagyu or anything like that here; they may not go on and on about where they get their meat from and what the cows eat or what kind of grass they sleep on, but they do know how to cook their meats and their generous portions should leave you with no complaints.<br/ <br/ That said, for a price of just over $100 per person for their usual menu, it might be slightly on the expensive side, despite their generosity. You'd have to really like meat and have a reasonably big appetite, because otherwise, for the same price you could go to a buffet or some other fine dining restaurant instead, so it really depends on what your preference is.
Possibly the most awesome steak in the Southern hemisphere, and certainly the best I've ever had in Australia. Grain fed, tender, perfectly prepared and great wines to match. I've been coming here for about 30 years and it's always been awesome, food, service, atmosphere exactly what a steak house should be. Not inexpensive and it's a case of you get what you pay for. Having said that, for me the house made sausage, mixed grill and steak cooked over the mallee root wood fired grill always pleases!
Vlado's has been around for many years and have kept the menu the same forever. The set menu as progressively is gone in price as well. The various meats that were served to me were absolutely delicious. The sausage, the liver, the patties they were delicious. The steak...was to die for. Full of flavour, cooked perfectly and was very filling. I loved the coleslaw that accompanied the course; the vinaigrette was so tasty. For dessert, the strawberry crêpes are scrumptious! They really hit the spot. The staff are friendly and the service is quick. I love the interior of the restaurant especially the picture of all the cows very clever. Although the venue is quite cramped. I will be back for an important occasion.
