The Stone Hotel - Melbourne

Embedded for an impromptu pub lunchtime during shopping and possibly had the best pub menu I ever had, perfectly cooked steak and many vege options, contemplative, but unpretentious weinliste and fast pleasant service. it is genetically, but not at the point t. that it no longer feels like a good local pub. we will be def.

I went to this restaurant during the week. It was empty, but a wonderful place to unwind and escape the rain. The restaurant is situated on Brunswick Road, surrounded by shops. It's a fantastic spot to grab a beer while shopping or exploring the area. I believe they have outdoor terrace seating, but it was closed when we visited.

I understand why this restaurant is empty. The concept of serving lunch early in the morning seems to be too much for the staff and chef who may not have arrived yet or gone out for ingredient shopping. They even mistakenly thought I didn't pick up my order because the cook was absent. The steak was overcooked, not allowed to rest properly, and rushed. I'm disappointed and won't be returning.

We could not have been better taken care of at this restaurant. We tried a variety of dishes from the menu and they were all delicious. The children were well catered to and the drinks were expertly made. The service was attentive and the prices were very reasonable. We highly recommend Stone Hotel to everyone and we will definitely be returning.

Found this place when looking for a pub steak in the Fitzroy area. Not much was open on New Year's Day and the pubs that were, were full and noisy. Took a chance on this place as it was quiet and had some spare tables...and was a great choice. The steak was one of the better pub steaks I've had in a long time. Cooked to a good medium and trimmed to a good size. It came with a good sized side of chips and salad that complimented the steak well. The plate was left clean. I'll be back with a few friends next time.
