A busy and vibrant cafe in Port Melbourne offering a great menu with outdoor seating in the sun. The food menu was impressive with plenty of options and caters for most dietary requirements. I had the smashed avo which was delicious and overall a good size, though I am happy I got a side. My friend had the mushroom dish and loved it. Service started well but once we got our menus and drinks it kind of stopped there. I went up to order and was told it was table service - i said that was a surprise and we wouldnt have known as no one had approached us. After that it was fine, but it is busy (we even went at 12.30 - typically a quieter time). Other than that, very pleased we went.
I arrived at about 9:00 am . I enjoy the cool weather so I took a seat outside. As they state they have table service I waited politely to place an order. There was much activity inside the premises but I did feel that I was being ignored. It turned out I was a "non person" . After 20 minutes a group arrived and sat outside close to me. "Lo and behold" a waitress appeared and immediately took their order (she was obviously a friend of the group). Guess what - I was totally ignored. When the waitress appeared again I managed to attracted her attention - I confirmed with her that there was table service and requested a cup of coffee. I know - I should have gone looking for someone to take my order but being rather handicapped I do find it difficult. I have traveled for many years domestically and internationally and every time I have returned I find that the level of service in Australia is poor when compared with similar venues. I am not talking about the high grade venues - it is the smaller enterprises who start out with a bang - gain excellent reviews and then become slack. I believe that this is confirmed by the number of small cafes etc then disappear.
A nice little cafe along a Port Melbourne residential street. A lovely pleasant cafe with excellent menu and friendly, helpful staff. My partner and I decided to pop into this cafe for a Sunday brunch. The cafe was quite full however we found a table outside. We both had an order of eggs, mine, poached eggs and my partner's fried with toast, a side of tomatoes and spinach, green juice and coffees. These arrived at the table promptly. This is a cafe that I intend to visit again.
This cafe does not disappoint. It's small with few tables, so you have to be prepared to wait. Unfortunately we were too early for lunch, so brekky was the go... nice...but I'm looking forward to a return visit...lunch menu looks great and comparable pricing to breakfast. Toast was a little too hard to cut, coffee was good..I wish I lived in Port Melbourne...cafe, light rail, 10 minutes to the city or beach.....what more could a girl want
