Contribuiți la feedbackTucked in out of rain and to await relatives. Had a really lovely new staff member Rayne. She let me wait. Checked in at right times and I finally could not wait on relatives (who were in Court) So I had a wonderful pumpkin, ricotta ravioli for $20. I had a lovely french Rose with this. Rayne got my magazines to read whilst eating. Stressful day but made easier but stumbling across this place. Would definitely go back.
My family and I stumbled upon this on our second morning in Melbourne. We were blown away by the friendliness we were greeted with by Alex, who we found out later was the owner. The food was incredible. The service impeccable. We were made to feel very welcome. The children were treated just as well. This is an exceptional eatery.
Great place for dinner and or a drink. Had to commend them on meeting a request for some olives, which was not on the menu. Mgr asked chef to come up with something and they didn't disappoint. After a big lunch our visit was only for a snack, and tapas fit the bill here. Great pork dish, and the calamari was nice just a wee bit too 'fishy' tasting for my liking, and made me think borderline on the not good side.Service was ok, and you do have to order your own drinks at the bar (shock horror when there are staff wandering the floor), but overall a great place.
The staff here were very friendly and the food was delicious. The only disappointing thing was that there was no children's menu, it wasn't really child friendly.
This place is our regular haunt for lunch. The food is good. The burgers, fish and chips and other regular "pub" fare are all worth ordering but it is in the more adventurous dishes where Slate really shines. The lamb salad is delicious, the pumpkin and walnut ravioli is utterly yum (don't be alarmed by the seemingly small size of this dish, it is perfectly satisfying being quite rich), the fish tacos seem to be a favourite among many, and the angel hair pasta with prawns is also very good. More often than not when we are trying to pick a place to go for a work lunch we pick Slate followed by the comment "the food is actually really good there".
