I really like pho so I have a habit of sampling Vietnamese restaurants whenever I can. The pho bo dac biet in Pho Filanders was a very nice surprise. This was by far the best pho I had in Melbourne. The broth was very flavourful though maybe a bit too much on the fatty side. It actually reminded me of good pho I had in Vietnam. It was the first pho I sampled in Melbourne so it set my expectations high, sadly, it went all downhill from Pho Filanders. Obviously, traditional southern style pho may not be for everyone's liking but if you want to know how it supposed to taste like, this is a pretty good rendition. The durian shake was less impressive (more heavy on ice than durian) but the pho is definitely worth a visit.
Went for breakfast most days during our stay. Good authentic Vietnamese noodle soup at a very reasonable price-Recommended
Its sits opposite the Flinders station and conspicous by the trams window.Though tom yum soup was poured over the pho instead of the usual beef or chicken stock, the one I had was modest. Maybe I should have specified what kind of soup to go with the dish.Overall, noodle soup was good although I was looking for the " vietnamese flavor " .
Whilst recently in Melbourne my husband and I had lunch at this cafe and were so pleased that we did as the Pho was so authentic that we felt like we were back in Vietnam again!!! We loved it so much that we returned for more the next day!!
