Jones The Grocer - Melbourne

The funky industrial decor with metal-topped tables looked cool - maybe a little impersonal and uncomfortable. I needn't have worried: the waiter's greeting with a smile and the comfortable seat put me in the right mood to eat. The jones burger with waygu beef, aioli, mustard bacon and cheese was tasty, perfectly cooked and very satisfying for lunch. The choice of desserts include several old favourites, all done with original variations. There was a long list of drinks - healthy juices, cordials, coffees, teas, beers and a short but good wine list. The restaurant is located on the third level of the Emporium Melbourne in Lonsdale Street and is open all day for breakfast and lunch. It's in a good location to take a break from work or shopping while you watch the passing crowd. The shop has a mouth-watering range of gourmet foods and wine.

Food was just alright. Not really surprising us much. Chai latte tasted like water. A bit over pricing! Table was not clean when we sit down, a bit disappointed for the first visit! Please also improve customer service! Hopefully everything would be improved next time when I come back!! Thank you. Happy New Year!! Ps female staff were friendly.

Admittedly we visited between Christmas and New Year but it was quiet with heaps of staff. We waited a long time to even order and the coffee was ordinary and weak. Mini eclair plonked on a saucer with no care or presentation. This is Melbourne -thousands of places to go with good coffee and service, so wouldn't go back to this one.

Decided to stop here for lunch after a lot of walking and shopping!We chose two platters, although one would probably be sufficient to share. Both came fairly promptly, freshly prepared and packed with the freshest of produce - assorted charcuterie, cheeses, crackers, toasted bread, dips, artichokes.....the list goes on!All in all, very enjoyable and not too expensive.

We came in for coffee and light afternoon snack so we ordered 2 types of cheesecake and a pizza. The cakes were just ok but the pizza parma was amazing. Can't wait for our next melbourne holiday and visit this restaurant again.
