Service was good and the food was adapted to our liking (not too spicy). Busy at lunch which is always a good sign, patrons were served promptly and didn't have long to wait for dishes.
Booked a table for two for a special night out. Arrived to find people guests waiting at the door to be attended to. They left after waiting too long. We approached the bar staff to enquire about our table and they had no idea about the booking. English was their second language was adds a nice feel to the restaurant but this wore off quickly when we struggled to explain that we wanted a meal rather than a drink and that we had a booking. Eventually seated at a table for 6??? Cutlery and plates were then removed!!! Ordered a drink and some water. Drinks arrived but no water!! Had to ask for a menu. One menu arrived so I assume there was a paper shortage! Ordered the chef's special which consisted of an entree platter and a main course of paella followed by desert. The couple seated next to us explained to the waiter that they had to leave for a show and that they had been waiting too long for their order to arrive. Our food platter was served about twenty minutes later but had to ask for cutlery and plates. The service was like a scene from Faulty Towers!! The upside to this restaurant is that the paella is very nice and actually worth enduring the service.
Staying at the Crossley you simply must visit this - great, friendly staff - and the ideal spot for a tipple before bed time. Nice outlook as well as the street is just outside so you can watch the world pass you buy whilst enjoying your drinks!
From start to finish it was a horrible meal. Yes the guy spruiking at the front door was friendly enough, but thats his job. We made the mistake of walking in and ordering the set 3 course menu which consisted of tapas platter- a bit of jamon (spanish ham), a few bits of chewy calamari, paper thin slices of cheese and even thinner slices of fried eggplant! and they forgot to give us the olives which were out of a jar, they came later when almost finished with some bread that we asked for that had to be defrosted first!!! Paella came next from a huge pan cooking away at the front door which we thought was a fake display but NO thats were it was cooked or rather overcooked! Rice was tasty enough but overcooked and not very pleasant to eat. Then came the dessert spanish donuts (churros) which to my shock i spied at the kitchen servery being taken out of a box of store bought (SAN CHURROS) when i asked the waiter why this was he lied and said oh no I must be mistaken they make them fresh. When we got our churros they were stone cold and oily, we called over another waiter he confessed and said thats what they do they order them in!! SPANISH restaurant that orders in food - shocking can t even make a donut. We asked to speak to management, he looked over at us when the waiter told him this and he proceeded to walk out the front door he did nt even have the courtesy to confront us, and we were a group of 3 females, DISGUSTING!!! Sorry don't know what all the other reviews are talking about but i rate it very poor
My hotel was next block of the restaurant, I walked by the restaurant everyday drooling over the paella cooked by the window. When I finally stepped in to eat, I was so satisfied by the food! I had the 3 course meal that consist entree, paella, and churro as closing dessert. Was indeed very satisfied with the food. I remember the waitress telling me that the set includes a glass of sangria but she somehow forgot to bring it to me. Anyways, I didn't ask for it since I opened a bottle of wine.
